HELP WANTED ... WHAT'S GOING ON
WITH GE.TT?!!!

It's Layna61524. It's not often that I need help but I do now.

Ge.tt is showing its butt on my end of the computer and I just don't know why.

I have been so busy lately re-upping stuff I shared on Ge.tt to other file share sites because of this ... precious time I could be using to post a lot of new stuff instead!

I have contacted their support 3 separate times as I have a paid account and A LOT of files there. All I get back is the standard boilerplate email confirming that they've received my request and will get back to me.

But that never happens.

And it drives me batty!

So I don't say this very often but ...

I NEED YOUR HELP!

If anyone here is using Ge.tt with success, please post to this thread and tell me what browser you're using, where in the world you are (country will do) and if you are using anything like VPNs or browser add-ons like ad blockers, etc.

I am just trying to isolate whatever problem may be causing this.

I have 3 anti-virus programs: I run Malwarebytes in real time, have Avast as my main protection and before logging off each night, I run HitmanPro to get rid of tracking cookies and to find anything lurking that the other two programs might overlook. So, I don't think this is a virus or malware problem.

I just Googled 'GE.tt not working' and can only find a JDownloader.org forum thread from 2016 that suggested using Opera and Safari because Google was banning Ge.tt links ... and even that didn't help. I tried Opera and the same results --- I can't even download my own files while logged into my Ge.tt account!

Anything anyone can share here will be helpful.

I'm waiting on Ge.tt support to contact me but it looks like they might have packed up and headed off (of course, I'm being silly because there is evidence that my files are still being accessed as recently as an hour ago!).

So somebody is getting through! And I'd like to know why I'm having such a hard time.

This is so frustrating!

So if you think you can help, I welcome your post. Or if you prefer to send me a PM that's okay, too. I just thought, with all the people asking for re-ups, I'm not the ONLY one who can't get through at Ge.tt and your post on the thread will help us all.

I just took a chance and created a new FREE account with a fake name. It works like magic, so it seems they disabled my paid account. I'm still waiting to hear back from them since I've sent 3 support emails and I am still able to log into my existing account.

I just did a quick test upload/download using this link and it worked seamlessly:

Hi Layna,
I've never used Ge.tt myself but I just created an account (free) to see if I could help.
I did so, then uploaded a zipped file from my HD. It uploaded really quickly indeed - and I have
the broadband connection from Hell three teenagers using it.

I tried the download and it worked fine. Do you want the link to try?

In Canada and while I have not been able to download any of your ge.tt shares of late, I have been able to download other stuff from ge.tt
I don't have a concrete example, because that was last week and I can't remember what I downloaded from ge.tt
I will keep an eye out and make note of it next time I download.

As for your ge.tt shares (at least the older ones) I have used Firefox and Chrome to download - both on Linux. It is weird, on Chrome, it actually downloads an empty html file. On Firefox, it does nothing.

As I learn more, I will report back. It is almost like someone has deleted your shares at ge.tt (Maybe a DMCA takedown, but they did something wrong?)

Do you have a link to a new ge.tt share so I can see if it is the same result.

I tried but couldn't do it. I got the message:

"Share is not available"

It seems that you have reached your traffic limit for the day and they won't be available until tomorrow.
I will try again tomorrow though.

Thanks to everyone here who's trying to help me.

@solar33: Yes, I got your PM. Thank you. I replied. I tried to download from the Ge.tt link you provided and got an error message as if I had requested the file twice. It mentioned something to the effect that my browser tried to get the download at the same time my IDM did and that isn't allowed ... with instructions for how to change that in the settings of IDM. I tried that. It didn't work.

@DacInBC: It sounds like something serious then if it's only my files. But you'd think they would ... as a courtesy ... send me an email explaining. I have a lot of stuff on Ge.tt and it's a paid up account. No fair! But i also have a lot of documents I prepared just for the forum that I wrote myself ... so it's not just an issue with pilfering.

Until someone from Ge.tt contacts me, I won't know for sure.

@mharun: Those links are not available because the user (not solar33) has hit their daily bandwidth limit so try again tomorrow. I have those links and that's the message I got when trying to download. But since I can't seem to do anything in Ge.tt ... I won't be able to get that product.

I hope someone who is able to download from those links will share that product here.

Oh well ... I'm having all manner of communications-related problems today. My Ooma just dropped a call in the middle of talking to my sister in another state! I guess Mercury is going retrograde.

Yeah ... that's it! The sun will come out tomorrow!

You can try this from malwarebytes, its just a scanner for things other things wont find. https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ - You can also try turning off maleware real time, that can block some of these file sharing sites.

For the record I can't download anything from Ge.tt, either. I was able to download two files a few days ago, so I was excited and thought it was working again, and then after that it wouldn't work anymore. I use chrome and opera. But I don't think it's a browser issue cos when I try using jdownloader it says the file is there but there is a server issue.

@emoji: Thanks for the post, buddy. I will look into that link. I just need to say, though, that up to a couple of weeks ago (when I first noticed the Ge.tt issue) I had no problems with Ge.tt. Whatever happened just happened around 14 days or so ago. I've always used ad blockers and Malwarebytes is my saving grace. You should see the stuff it catches ... especially when I go to those Zippyshare links!

@MoneyMaven: Hey, friend! Thanks for chiming in. It's good to know I'm not the only person experiencing this, but DacInBC has me worried because it sounds like the only Ge.tt downloads he's having trouble with are mine. I remember getting a couple of warnings about stuff I shared but you'd think they would contact me to say they shut my account down. Yet, I'm still able to log in and see my files and reports of downloads.

I was hoping someone had a phone number I could use to reach the support folks at Ge.tt ... I've searched the web and cannot find it anywhere. Only that useless email address. There seems to be a New York-based ride share company by the same name that keeps popping up.

Another site I'm having problems with is Mir.cr and Solidfiles. Both sites have rejected some of my uploads and I don't know why that's happening.

Maybe I'm just bothered about nothing. Like I said, it's probably a planetary thing --- full moon or mercury going retrograde. Tomorrow is another day and maybe everything will flow in sync then.
