I've been looking at the 'Top 20' DAOs by treasury value. In almost every single one, if the core team disagrees with the vote, they just soft-fork the chain or ignore the proposal. We saw this with the whole 'Ethereum Foundation' centralization debates.

Most of these new 'Layer 1' and 'DeFi' protocols are just regular companies using tokens to avoid liability. There is nothing 'trustless' about a multi-sig wallet controlled by 5 anonymous devs who hold the keys.

Is the 'Web3' narrative just a marketing gimmick to get retail to buy bags, or am I being too cynical?]]>
