Domain and Hosting Recommendations?

I'm currently at godaddy, but these renewal fees are killing me. I keep hearing that there are better domain and hosting services out there.

Anything you would recommend? Experiences? Good? Bad?

Any advice is welcomed, and thanks in advanced

ipage is good but there control panel is not good
bigrock.com is alos good for domain not for hosting ..
for domain you can try 365edomain.com as there domain registration and renew fee are same

for hosting i suggest arvixe.com as i am using for last 3 years and there sever are great

I've heard bad things about hostgator lately.

My current favorite is ecowebhosting.co.uk (I am not affiliated with them, just happy because I got a free deal with them some time back - it's a Karma thing)

If you want to PM me, I also have a free reseller that does not place ads on your website or anything and is pretty generous in my unbiased opinion. The offer is free for as long as you need it, I think the account only becomes inactive when you haven't logged in for 2 or 3 months or something like that. If you ever decided to upgrade to paid, it is not as expensive and faster than hostgator ... (this I am affiliated with) (I would also be happy to point you to the sign-up page if you wanted to sign up as a free reseller (for free of course))

Hostgator s***ks big time now a days many issues with servers, very slow server and support response pricing high for services they are offering rather than wasting your time on hostgator look for better deal web hosting talk forum (just google it) you will find tons of offers for hosting :)

For domain registration, I recommend http://www.NameCheap.com

Their prices are maybe a little higher to start, but they have a free year of Whois Guard for free with new domain registrations, which makes it cheaper than using something like GoDaddy and getting a cheap domain, but then either paying another 8 bucks for keeping your info secret, or not doing so, and getting a crap load of spam to people who look for emails of new domain registrations.

For hosting, I've used http://www.BlueHost.com for a while, they are pretty good, US based servers, their online chat is pretty ok, and I've had pretty good luck with uptime.

Their cpanel is not too bad to use, and you can upgrade services for different things.

Also, for reseller hosting, if you need to have multiple cpanels, or just having one cpanel per domain if you need to be able to keep it that way, InMotion Hosting is something I just started to use, not too bad so far, the chat support has been pretty good as well.

Just my two cents...

Just please stay away from GoDaddy and HostGator... both have become crap...not worth the headache.

And also, I would always suggest that you NEVER keep your domains AND hosting with the same provider.... always host with one and register with another...

Long time ago we used 1and1 for both and whenever there was a billing problem, they shut everything down... they had us by the nuts.... so be careful and keep these two things separated...

Few questions

- I keep reading about keeping hosting and domain in separate places, is it because of that same problem you mentioned? You don't want to give 1 place that much power over your stuff, so in the case something happens you can open hosting elsewhere with your domain and keep going. If you have domain/hosting in one place then it could mess up business if there is a problem.

- I keep hearing GoDaddy is not good for hosting... is there a reason for this? I actually had Godaddy hosting before, never had a problem but i also didn't have any traffic going to it.
