Exact Match Domain names
Buying an exact match domain name and then redirecting it to your actual website, is that a good thing or bad thing for SEO? Isn't it better to build a content site or a landing page rather than redirecting it? Thanks.

RE:
I wouldn´t rely on type In Traffic from Exact Match Domains. I usually only build Websites with EMD´s BUT the Type-In Traffic is fairly low if you don´t happen to have a very good One as a .com. These Days, google don´t care as much about Exact Match Domains like they used to when the internet started. Today, EMD´s can even hurt you because it can increase the risk of having too many keywords on your website.

I would focus on lot´s of good content instead of a simple Redirect. Pretty sure it would be pretty frustrating to do that and do nothing else.

Thank you for the answer. This is what I thought but had to double check. Rep added.

RE:
The whole point with an exact matching domain, is that it ranks #1 without a fight.

Usually, it would be best to have your site on an exact matching domain name. It would normally be the keyword that gets the most search volume.. For the rest of them, you could snag domains to point to the main domain.

Here are examples and keyword search volume

Main Keyword - 5k/day
2nd keyword - 3k/day
3rd keyword - 2k/day
4th keyword - 1k/day

Your main website will still have pages, and target, your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th keywords... You would ALSO get more domains, using the exact keyword phrase for your other keywords.. then have them redirect to your main site. You could redirect to your homepage, or to the pages matching that keyword.

You want to funnel most of your traffic to your main site. Those other domains are NOT for ranking in Google, just 301 redirect the whole domain to your main site.
