RE:
Hello Guys,

I started my journey on IM with this Ebay-Amazon Dropshipping / Ebay Arbitrage. I saw lots of people doing this and are really successful with it. I have some problems with listing. I could not find my listings on ebay lists base on the keyword I typed for search. Even if I put the whole exact title of the product I still can't find my item on the category where I specified putted it. The listings were all confirmed by ebay staffs and said that the items will be on the list after several hours but 3 days have passed but I still can't find my item. :(

@janene.frechette: if you have listed your item on another ebay outside of your country, then excluded buyers located outside that ebay's delivery area, you won't be able to see your own listing, neither.
if you want to see your listing, make sure that everyone can see it, even if you have excluded delivery areas outside of that ebay's country.
cheers

So it's been over 2 weeks now since I took Quasar's info and ran with it. It's not easy this stuff but you have to keep plowing. I have 211 items listed and still counting. On the average I'm making a pound per sale after listing, ebay and paypal fees (Most items I'm making like .75p on, but there are a few gems I found and I'm making £3-£4 or so on).

A day, I'm making like £30 or so. This will do me just fine for now because I keep refining my strategy and listing even more products.
Thanks for the update, and congratulations on your progress. If you don't mind, I've just got a few questions about your methodology:

When you list your items on Ebay, how many do you say are available in the "Quantity" box? It sounds like you have sold a reasonable number of certain items, so I'm guessing that you say there are quite a large number available?

Also, how do you approach the legal issue of using product images? Are you photoshopping every image before using it, to make it unique? Or, are you asking the manufacturer on Amazon for permission to use the images? Or, are you sourcing Creative Commons images of the products, via an advanced Google search?

Finally, with over 200 listings, I guess that it must be difficult to keep on top of the availability/possible price changes of each product. How do you approach this? Do you set aside certain days to carry out these checks?

Thanks.

Hey dood, this is not necessarily best practice as I'm in no way a pro at this. It's just sharing what I am doing and seeing if we can squeeze some meaning out of it.

To be honest I usually just put over 10 pieces available, if I can deliver that. One thing to be aware of though is that on the amazon listing, even though the seller says the item is in stock (i.e. he doesn't specify that just 3 or 4 left), they still might have a limit one person can buy.

So before you list the quantity of an item you have, go on amazon and add like 50 of the same item in your basket. pretend like you want to deliver it to your home address and see if it gives you an error message telling you the max quantity you're allowed. If it doesn't give you a max quantity, then I just list as 10+ available. If it gives me a max like i can buy only, say 5, then I either list as having 5 if it's worth the profit, or not sell that at all

More to come

I just use the stock image on amazon. I'm not sure if this is right but this is what I do. I'm certainly not asking the manufacturers for permission. I'm sure Quasar has answered this question somewhere so it might be best to look it up on this thread. The only images I photoshop is when I'm combining two or three products into a bundle, so I photoshop the images into one pic.

Oh I see. So is it possible to list a product that would be available to purchase worldwide? I mean no country exclusions? And if yes, how could I that? thanks for your help. I'll give rep to you.

This is a real bummer because many times, the price increases on Amazon. If you're not on top of it, you'll quickly be selling at a loss. It actually happened to me once early on and I lost a like 4 pounds on this item. I didn't cancel the order though because I didn't want to damage my 100% rating.

What I now do is I have opened up several amazon accounts with different emails to track this. If you put a product in the basket, amazon will alert you if there are any price changes to that product. However amazon only allows you to put 50 products in the basket.

So like I said I have a few accounts with 50 items each. I try to check them when I wake up, mid-day and just before I go to bed. So I log into the accts one after the other and check to make sure. If there are any price increases, I go back to the ebay calculator and run it through that till I'm making a profit again and then amend.

Make sure you run it through the ebay calculator though. A simple mistake might be that the price increases on amazon by 2 pounds, and you just increase your prize by 2 pounds. You can't do that. Your ebay sellers fee might have increased as well, as might your pay pal fees.

I looked for programs that could alert me on price changes on amazon but the only ones I could find alerted you only when the price dropped, not increased. Pretty useless to me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info Ducane - I'm sure I speak for a lot of us here when I say that you have been really helpful/inspiring. However, I seem to remember Quasar saying that you should not use the Amazon product images on Ebay without permission, because you might be sued (or have your listing pulled). Also, in the WSO, Tony does recommend cropping/amending the images before listing them on Ebay. My photoshopping skills leave a lot to be desired, so I'm trying to decide on the most efficient way of tackling this issue....

I was also wondering about tracking more than just a few products. I found a site that Im trying and it seems to work, http://camelcamelcamel.com/. Its used to track price drops but if you enter your desired price as $1 higher than the selling price it will alert you when its out of range with an email. You can log in periodically and check all itens at once. Dont know what the item limit is though. Hope it can help some of you.

for example: ebay.com = choose "No international shipping", then do NOT exclude any shipping locations.
For some reason ebay linked the visitors' location to the shipping location. So if you want non-USA buyers to see your ad, just stop ebay from accepting non-USA addresses for shipping.
