RE:
you limit post counts, what do you think will happen? you will start seeing spam in other areas of the forum that either other members see or moderators have to deal with. there will always be spam on forums. from my own experience, there is only one way to deal with it and that is make it harder for someone to sign up. if spam does go through, you block ip/user name/email combined so they can't use the same info to do the same shit.

an alternative is limit post count for moderator approval. the problem with this is newly released info may not be in hand right away

another alternative is to get more active mods in here

in the meantime, it's easy to sniff out the spam so when you do, don't bother. it's also easy to sniff out the better shares. there are only a limited # of shares in this freebie forum per day so it doesn't really even take that much time to browse the new shit that has been posted within 48 hours(marked with today and yesterday).

what gets me bothered the most is that i noticed some of these spammers get marked with contributor status. when i first came her, i used that as a guide for the trusted contributors but now, you can't so much. what's worse yet is that some of these spammers are getting +repped so it's not just the fault of the mods, but the dummies who rep before they even know what the hell they are getting.

it was mentioned that the admin took this in to consideration years ago but that doesn't mean we have to continue to live in the stone age.

RE:
I agree, I hate forum spam. I have two forums and I left them alone for two weeks and when I logged in I have over 7000 spam posts. It gets aggravating to go through and ban those users, delete the posts. But I have found that having min post counts do little to stop spam and only hurts a new member from sharing something when they have it on their mind. Then they login and see they have to have 50 posts to submit theirs, so they leave and maybe a good item doesn't get posted.

I've been here since 2011 and yes I only have 23 posts. I read a lot, I don't post a lot. So if you make it 50 and I got something cool to share, it doesn't get shared. I don't want to post just to reach that number, that doesn't bring any quality in, just quantity.

RE: A NEW RULE THAT SHOULD BE ADDED SERIOUSLY
what gets me bothered the most is that i noticed some of these spammers get marked with contributor status. <---- lol

That is true, but normally those who do get the status actually contribute, like me. I do original case studies and trying to get more people to. I agree that they might spam other threads but the fact remains its still there and the community is looking for a solution to it.

If the admins been looking into it, I wonder when can we look forward to the new system being implemented?

RE:
hmmm.. We should have like a "Thanks For Mirrors" button. So, someone posts mirrors to other people's uploads (and the more mirrors the better OBVIOUSLY) - so his button gets pressed and he receives points. 30 points or perhaps more and he gets the "contributor" status or a "mirror maker" status and THEN he is allowed to open threads. People would then have to spam the board - with mirror files. meh... it doesn't sound that bad.
