I would advise that you read the sales page one more time. It's NOT outdated though.

Yes, it dated back 2011. Do not worry much about that, domain business does not like SEO.
For me, I found several good piece of information in this guide that we can utilize.

could someone point out what is no longer valid? Are you saying something in it is considered 'illegal' now?

It means that the information in this guide is valuable and still works till now. It does NOT mean illegal or something here.
