Thanks for the share it seems to be working fine, but, my question is - is it necessary to run the update file because when I try to run it SC3 crashed. So how important is the update file to operation of the app?

It is an exact duplicate of the .exe file that is already in the main download. You don't need this second file at all, don't even download it. Hope that clears up the confusion.
