This pdf is worth reading not just piece of crap as opposite to what your saying (unless care to point a reason why is it crap rather than mentioning it without proof). I have made a living as a writer for about a year now. AFAIC, this is a very good little WSO. It certainly won't teach you how to write, nor will it give you the confidence you need if you don't have any, but the strategy is brilliant, and I am going to seriously tweak my approach after reading it.
It's a free F****** download; if you are a writer who wants some insight into making money, just download it. It's not like you are going to have wasted much in the way of time or money if you don't like the info, but this might be the wake-up call you need to make money. |

RE:
There's no need for suspense - the method of getting clients is Googling for companies and writing to them. He provides a nice template email, a sensible Do's and Dont's list and a fair idea about writing good articles (which will be helpful if you can already write well). He is also right about the fact that this method is not likely to get saturated since a very small percentage of people will ever try it.
The success rate is about 6-7 replies per 100 unsolicited emails - a realistic estimate, I'd say. The website displaying your portfolio is not optional if you care to receive any response at all. No business is expected to reply to a gmail address of a complete newbie author. Overall, a refreshing change from the BS that WSOs generally are. I'm going to try this for certain, and if I succeed, I'm going to buy the book from the author. Hope that helps anyone still wondering whether to download. A big thanks to the uploader - really appreciate this :) |

RE:
Always a big thanks to the OP! This is a good and actionable report.
Fresh new links: Magic Button : Review and Comments: I am a professional copywriter and marketing consultant by vocation. I can speak on the topic of this ebook as an expert. Along with Kindle and video marketing, this is how I make my living. Pros: If you are new to writing or want to know how to break-in to making more money, this is a solid ebook. The author writes to a slightly above-average standard and is not presumptuous about what his skill or area of expertise is. He does not give much writing advice in the ebook and I was relieved he did not make it about mechanics. He did not get ambitious by speculating on what “might” work as most WSOs do. There are plenty of ebooks about how to write articles or any kind of content that can be found on this forum. As a brief aside, it is easy to deduce what his heritage is because of the usage of colloquialisms endemic to the UK. In the ebook, he focuses on making money by writing SEO content for higher paying clients. He is correct that there are many buyers for higher priced content and fewer writers. This happens for lots of reasons that benefit better writers and marketers. There will always be a market for solid writing and people willing to pay for it. Only desperate or poorly informed writers produce content for one-penny-per-word at a time when prices for good content are rapidly increasing. Unfortunately, most writers act passively and only react to the demands of the perceived market. As long as you can write at an average level and market yourself well, you can make lots of money. The author is also right about no need for concern about competition. Every business has competition and this profession tends to produce rabidly loyal clients. Good content will always command respect and higher fees. This ebook and my own beliefs are about you positioning yourself at the top of the market rather than trying to earn a perceived minimum wage as a freelancer. This is real work and takes time, effort and dedication. But the demand will never disappear and you can determine your earnings. Fees and prices commensurate with your skills and the quality of your products are what should drive your rates. Always ask for higher fees. If you work and educate yourself to write at higher standards, you will always have all the work you want. Your fees are on target when you occasionally lose prospects because of price. If you are not losing prospects because of your fees, they are not high enough. Cons: He focuses on only one way of writing for higher fees or prices. SEO content is easy to write and the market for it will always be huge. It is an even bigger need now because of constant Google algorithm changes that require engaging site content. This is the entry-point for high quality content and is pedestrian-level work for the more highly skilled writers among you. There are many types of content that command higher rates. These include: • Authority Content (articles, web copy, blog posts, etc.) • Long-form Content • Ebooks and Guides • Email and Autoresponder sequences • Press Releases • Sales Copy • Sales Letters • Direct Response Copy • Copywriting • Script Writing • Product Reviews • Kindle • PLR • Product Creation and Development • Variations and Combinations of These Develop any of these as a specialization and find a niche market and – everyone in that microcosm will beat down your door with money-in-hand when you approach them. In 2013, I cannot tell you what it feels like to write $50 articles. I have not written for rates that low in fifteen years or more. However, this author has made writing SEO content his primary focus and he gives some good advice and resources you can use to make a healthy income. He claims a high figure income and I believe him – but you can earn more. He works 5-hours-per-day, 5-days-per-week – I believe that figure too. The email he uses is one of the weaknesses in this product and can be improved dramatically. He did not place enough emphasis on the most critical element of the email – the subject line. It doesn’t matter what you write in the email if it doesn’t get opened. His primary prospecting method is a blunt instrument. Arbitrarily searching Google (as he does) to target and acquire clients works, but there are better ways. Identifying and closing prospects is a huge factor in getting as much work as you want. If you place emphasis on your client prospecting, identification and acquisition process – your fees can be (within reason) whatever you believe you are worth. The more obscure or lackluster the business or niche is, the more buyers exist that are willing to pay you top dollar to write for them. Specialization is almost always a good thing for aspiring authors that want to be paid what they are worth. Position yourself as an expert or authority in any niche and people will buy all you can write. Would you rather have a full workload all the days you want to write - or have to search for new business due to an empty pipeline? This is an attitudinal shift – would you rather be the one saying no to new work because you have all you can handle? Or would you rather be the one getting told no when you have nothing to do and need the work? (And income?) This is what I call the “always busy writer” image and mindset. It means you always keep prospects and clients in your pipeline. They are on your “waiting list” so to speak. If you are turning work away regularly, you are doing an effective job of marketing yourself and your business. (This is a business, which is a huge paradigm shift for many writers.) You need to do what the author states in this ebook, and allocate at least 25% of your daily efforts to getting new clients. Doing this allows you to take on the projects you want and say no when you want – and that is always a good thing. To maximize your fees, a professional persona is critical and having a web site is part of separating yourself from the writing wannabes. He makes this a critical point in the ebook and I agree completely. You can work in your pajamas as long as you cast a long professional shadow in everything you do. As for comments made about whether these strategies work – I can tell you these strategies and tactics positively work – as long as you do. This is a solid 38 page ebook. It is perhaps a bit myopic in some areas. But this business model is completely doable for any reasonably intelligent person – and someone willing to work. Grade: 4/5 stars Please give thanks and rep if you want to see more of this!
