First of all if you want to do SEO of your website yourself then check your website's On-Page Optimization. First setup it perfectly then manually remove all your low level backlinks which could affect your [Reported by Members as SPAM THREAD]. After doing these all activities you can move to various Off-Page Optimization activities like Social Media Marketing, Classified ads, Forum Posting, Blog Commenting, Web 2.0 Profile Creation, etc... But always make sure that you must have to submit Unique Content only in High PR websites.
