The very, very best way to become a Linux user is to start fresh with a 2nd PC - recover whatever is needed from the 'old' PC - shut it off, unplug it and put it off to the side - and then...GO !!!

Aside of that - if you have a decent NB PC hanging around, you can make a small network and have it all - VMs are anudder great option, and WINE is truly fine as well.
