[GET] Sugar Toxic: The Dirty Fuel that Impairs Brain Function and Makes Us Fat
[Image: 418F-useYiL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg]

SUGAR IS A TWO-MOLECULE PROBLEM WITH NEUROTOXIC EFFECTS Refined sources of sugar have attracted much negative attention in the past few years with fructose clearly in the spotlight as chief villain. However, fructose represents only one part of a deadly duo, which invariably includes glucose. An equally destructive operator, glucose has the potential to inflict just as much, if not even greater harm than fructose as a component of free sugar.

Generally comprising between 40 to 45 percent of high fructose corn syrup, glucose has managed to remain unobtrusively on the sidelines and has even been exonerated as the body’s main fuel.In "Sugar Toxic" Margit Silverman reveals how refined glucose can act as a neurotoxin by destabilizing carbohydrate metabolism, the metabolic pathway that is fundamental to energy creation and nervous system functioning.This semi-autobiographical account personalizes what might otherwise be reduced to a dry exploration of the scientific evidence that is brought to bear on the subject.

Chronicling the author’s path of investigation and own success in eliminating sugar from her diet in 1997, "Sugar Toxic" is an eye-opening exploration of the harmful effects of free glucose, the sugar molecule that has managed to silently avoid scrutiny all the while invading every corner of the dietary landscape.The scientific evidence presented provides a credible argument for the contribution of free glucose in the development of diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

It also addresses the capacity of refined glucose to undermine myelin production and the potential impact of that on the developing brain of infants and children. Other topics explored are the role of refined glucose in directing metabolic pathways toward the synthesis of fat and its participation in the development of migraine.Glucose and fructose exert their effects differently and through alternate means. While the fructose portion of free sugar is directed to the liver, the metabolites of the glucose fraction are directed towards energy metabolism and can easily derail metabolic processes. By providing simplified and clearly understandable biochemical concepts, the scientific evidence that forms the backbone of this detective story becomes easily accessible to the layperson.

The rot inside our bodies that just loooooves all the sugars and causes huge amounts of harm and pain.

Very true. And also=>

Non-diabetics who desire to get clues about what causes so much pain and sufferings.

RE: [GET] Sugar Toxic: The Dirty Fuel that Impairs Brain Function and Makes Us Fat
Having had many years exposed to medical professionals
I witnessed the effect of low sugar. (sugar bigots)

Also, I worked in the emergency room for 5 years.

I saw a man hold his grandkids hostage in Florida holding a knife and walking around the apartment in a daze. refusing to let anyone leave. He was my father-in-law.

He was a sugar hater too... a so-called health nut.

Paramedics were called. He fought them off like they were children
throwing them here and there. -super strength.

The paramedics gave him a sugar shot and he was back to his ok self in
minutes.

They told his daughter to give him some cake later and have his Doctor design a balanced diet including sugar!

Bottom line ..all things have some purpose in this sick and imbalanced world.

.life is balance and moderation.

RE: [GET] Sugar Toxic: The Dirty Fuel that Impairs Brain Function and Makes Us Fat
I really, seriously appreciate your contradictory, snarky reply here Dynasty5 !!

Me - a 'sugar hater' ??

Far from it - but:

Having been 'sentenced' to a lifetime of artificial insulin dependence by the all-knowing medicos 30+ years ago, my view upon this topic is far different - because:

Back then I was suddenly very overweight for no apparent reason so I ran to the medicos for their all-knowing help.

Their official verdict was what I already said here, as well as advising me to mostly live on peanut butter and crackers until I had no choices left but to get on the endless shots.

What happened with me since that time ??

I left the medicos for the LAST time, changed my food intake deliberately and carefully - lost ALL the excess weight - AND=>
Have NEVER used any insulin stuff at all during the past 30+ years.

By way of contrast, a family member was a tall and slender man who pretty much lived on pounds of gummy bears and a full bottle of scotch each day after his work as a pro accountant.
He never gained any weight and seemed to stay healthy - but...
His wife was also a heavy drinker and battled endlessly with her weight problems.

My former father-in-law lived mostly on beer and smokes - he was also small and slender and somehow managed that all his adult life - and lived into his 70s.

Better still however would be my oldest, dearest friend who is a very highly educated RN.
He follows ALL the directions of his fellow medicos, always.
He also retired early and forcibly due to his failing health and immobility and lives on his meds.

Want another example ?? OK:
Our upstairs neighbor is an RN who has worked in the local ER for decades.
She is obese, has mobility problems, and is also a daily drinker living on meds.

Now - as for me=>
In my present 'old age' and despite having been crippled for life when I was around 5 y/o - I do all the snow shoveling here in the winters, carry all the domestic stuff myself, and I'm in motion around 16 hours a day as well as being in better health altogether than the other folks I've mentioned (those who remain alive, that is) and I have no weight problems.

Moral of my telling here=>
Depending upon one's body type and metabolism it appears that some folks can just live 24/7/365 on a mostly sugar centered diet VS. others who find that ditching the sugars brings them wonderfully improved health VS. folks who are someplace in-between and spend ALL their energies each day just working at staying alive and somewhat mobile.

Since I shut off the 'sweet switch' my health and life have improved amazingly much;
For me there is no road back towards that pain-filled lifestyle.

Not a sugar hater though by any means - and if it would be possible for me WITHOUT such a high price, I'd gobble up lots of triple-chocolate ice cream, candy bars and sweet baked goods.

But that price is too high and I enjoy being as healthy as I've become.

Of course your opinions and mileage may be very different from my own - so to each, their own - live and let live I say !!
