A. This is what I observed...

1. I noticed the real issue is that members strongly object when someone FORCES them to comment or give reps before they can see the link. This typically results in posts void of any value to the members of forum. The only people who seem to benefit are these who want to force others.

2. People tend to act for their own interest. If someone wants to force members to post then the one forcing must receive some benefit as a result.

3. People often mask their own self interest by suggesting they act for the benefit of others.


B. This is my opinion...

What is the reason people come to the forum? It's because they enjoy when people force them to jump through hoops, right?

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the world of being a circus animal. This is a world in which you must perform a trick before the circus masters would give you a treat!! Enjoy!!


C. Commentary...

The early bird gets the worm principle... It means first come, first served. This is a principle most people accept.

Does it seem like someone wants to penalize those who get here first to collect the free coupons?

Do we want to block the early birds in favor of those who arrive late?

I'm personally in a time zone that is at least 10 hours behind the people who tend to post the most coupons. Usually when I can get to the forum, many coupons are already gone. I accept this as part of life. I have some advantages and other have other advantages. This is life.

What would happen if someone from my time zone starts posting coupons? I would feel happy to get them before they expire. It is reasonable for someone to block the coupons in favor of other in another time zone and force me to miss out?

Do these complainers have ANY clue where the 'post to unlock' change originated ??

If not - then they are 100% totally full of shit and have no real rights or reasons to complain.

If they do know - then why aim at the sharers - that makes ZERO SENSE.

Many thanks GoWork, you are totally right about a potencial issue with blocking or locking coupons; this could generate unnecesary spam and bumps in the Udemy section! :( This will be not a good idea in Udemy Section! ;)

Nevertheless, this is not a new issue, we have the same big issue with a lot of bumps as spam with outdated courses too, since many years!!! :(

Remember that blocking content was NOT the idea of us as sharers, but that was an optional proposal by our respected mods. Nevertheless they are working in a better solution! Many thanks for that! A "thanks button" will be definitely a better solution to our community, than blocking content!

And remember that we as sharers are ONLY sharing free courses and coupons WITHOUT LOCKS since MANY YEARS ago. So, we are not blocking or creating any spam or bumps, since MANY YEARS ago!


--------- 3 Reasons why we did a temporal test blocking in 1 day some coupons (although we will not do it again for the moment):

1. The moderators proposed that option in our community as Smithnowt said well and the majority perhaps ignores it! That should be proof enough that we have no interest other than the disinterested desire to share to our bros and sis, not for money (we do not receive any money), only by grace and love to our community! 2. People wrote by error asking to unblock coupons that WAS NOT BLOCKED; because they saw a message blocked in the SIGNATURE of the sharers and members and NOT because of any BLOCKED COUPON. That also happen a lot in the last days!!!

For example the sharer bs00001 did NOT block ANY coupon:

3. Then, because we saw that people thought that coupons was blocked, and as the moderators proposed to protect our important content: we wanted to try to improve our community by protecting a couple of coupons (as a test only). But immediately in reaction of the great opposition we had, and because there are also good concerns that this might not be the best solution, the again we decided to stop doing it, the same day! ;)


--------- Also in my defense as a sharer in Udemy Section:

1. For the moment, I will not block the coupons that I share, because I don't know if this is the best solution. I don't want to make life difficult to our good brothers and sisters who are many, who are grateful, who freely give reps when possible, who really appreciate us with their respect; only because those few members that are very ungrateful, who NEVER give ANY thanks or reps; as trolls, leachers or bots! ;)

Nevertheless, if the moderators decide in the near future to block all coupons in this section or in a new VIP section as Rasur proposed or in any other solution; as they decide, then I will totally support their decision, as our authorities that we have to respect, always! :)

2. We really value much more than reps: the respect and gratitude that we receive from a lot of members who truly appreciate the love we have for our community sharing many good courses since some years ago; regardless of whether we have different positions or arguments, talking always with respect and gratitude! :)

3. Ok, let me share in peace some more courses, without locks and blocks! And not only without tags that block courses but without the block of bad influence by negative people that block and discourage our sharers; and that is really a BIGGER BLOCK ISSUE!!! :(

A useful and practical solution to get the NEW COURSES in TOP of this Udemy Section, despite any bumped thread, is very easy:

Select the "SORT BY CREATION TIME" and press "GO" button (at the bottom of Udemy section); and do not use the default filter: "Sort by Last post".

But of course, this is only a partial solution to all these issues of bumped threads (since many years), because this will show only the new created threads and not the new posts with new links! ;)

I am hoping you find a better way of doing this that works for everyone.
My experience this morning, I clicked on new posts and had 9 pages of ancient posts come up where people had commended to unblock. The new threads were lost in the noise.
I am all for protecting coupons, perhaps as someone else in this thread suggested, putting them in vip?

I am also aware that I can go into each section and sort by creation time, but that takes a lot of time to go through each section then.

1 - Look at the view count - it is over ~400-500...just pass it by;
2 - Have a copy/paste ready for things which MAY be worthy of a look, like mine:

My daily peek here at the new posts listing is usually almost 30 pages now and mostly just reinTARnated threads from years ago with many thousands of prior views each...

I read some post and many members said you are good guy. Also help many contributors.

But many great contributors already left and I'm late to join this forum just after leejiacheng1 was left few days ago. I was sad and very very sad. I want their contact to ask them to come back but no replies to me.

Then I re-read this whole posts and found out this so-call Vanila Bean is one the member who want to grab but not given back somethings back to contributors here and argue with so much useless and nonsense comments. This one of the reason contributors keep leaving. I believe there are many members who has same mindsets like this VB. They should kick out. Serious, they do not belong to this good forum where I saw some quotes in this forum: SHARING IS CARING...

Ah... I got a recommendation. Ask them to read this good book. Very useful for me and influenced many youth whole world. My teachers and parent also thumbs up for this book:

Before that I saw this VB post a course related to hardware hacking and want to give reputation but don't want to give because my legend pointed that the courses posted already. Then this VB said my legend want to play around with him. Where this VB came from??? He think my legend have many times to play with him??? Many thanks for writing, dear brothers DacInBC, smithnowt and osmanal2, your friendship and words are always really appreciated!

First of all, we are totally agree that the post to unlock feature is NOT a good solution to the Udemy Section, don't worry!

And also remember that we are making a great sacrifice to build a community to help many bros and sis that really value our help as sharers!

Nevertheless, we really miss some great sharers that do not legendarily share as in the past (SteB81, Extraño, leejiacheng1 and many others); sharers that are irreplaceable and priceless; discouraged because as humans we have feelings and dignity, we are not disposable objets. Because of the negative and ungrateful attitude of some people or even the silence and indifference of others; as an evidence of the fallen human nature, as a senseless rebellion against the people who help us, against the doctors who heal us, against our fathers, and against God who created us with freedom to do right or wrong. Something totally meaningless and without any sense.

We only share with simple generosity, we do not share for reps, nor do we receive any money for sharing. But we are also happy when we receive the gratitude of some friends we have made, and despite the indifference of many, and the ungrateful opposition of some others; until we get tired, and we go in due time, as happen with any sharer or prophet.

forum has been going down hill for a few years, after the influx of GB's. This is stuff that we used to share as part of the BlackHat community. Now every single thing is a GB. The post to unlock just adds to the demise of a once great website. I used to visit here daily now its on the odd occasion.
