NON-FICTION WRITERS --- TRY THIS!

Get Paid $40 to $4,000+ Writing Blog Posts
for Online Magazines and Websites

[Image: 2019-07-08_1152.png]

Imagine getting $1 for every word you write in a blog post or article...

That's a $500 check for a 500 word article.

$1,000 to $1,200 for one that takes a little more research and effort to write.

Well, snap out of it --- no need to keep daydreaming any longer. Some online companies pay you $2 or more per word! So you stand to make some pretty nice bank with your non-fiction writing skills.

I just came across this very interesting blog post from MoneyPantry.com that I'd like to share. Now, it was last updated on May 6, 2018 and the post may contain affiliate links but you can always do your own web search for each online site to get updated details (and avoid affiliate links, if that's an issue for you).

If you're a decent or better writer of non-fiction and need to make some money, visit here:

ONLINE MAGAZINES AND WEBSITES
THAT WILL PAY YOU TO WRITE

The post lists 101 places where you can submit your articles or blog posts to get paid. They're looking for:

* Features
* Health articles
* Personality Profiles
* How-to Training Articles
* First-Person Accounts of Life in the Dressage World

You can expect to be paid $40 to $4000, based on the length and depth of your submission. As you can reason, it takes a lot less time, energy and research to turn out a piece that pays $40 but considerably more for one that pays on the higher end.

There are some categories you get to write about:

* Art
* Business/Money
* DIY/Home Improvement
* Education
* Farm and Gardening
* Fiction
* General Interest
* Humor
* Kids/Teens
* Lifestyle
* Parenting
* Regional
* Religion
* Science
* Special Interest
* Sports/Outdoor
* Web and Technology

Some of the online sites may no longer exist and that is why you should do your own due diligence. But for the purpose of illustration, at the time that blog post was written ...

* a bimonthly magazine called Vibrant Life paid $100-$300 for a 4100 word article with "a focus on healthy living with a Christian perspective."

* Guideposts accepts true stories based on people who achieved certain goals, overcome obstacles or learned lessons through their faith. They pay $250 per post.

* The Nation, a left-leaning publication, looks for topics like civil liberties, civil rights, labor, economics, environmental issues, privacy, politics, policing and feminist issues. They pay between $350 and $500. A political commentary piece is paid at the flat rate of $150.

* Fantasy and Science Fiction pays $3000 per article.

Here are the benefits to having a side-hustle as a freelance writer at home:

* You invest nothing --- there are no fees of any kind to pay. You simply find out what kinds of submissions they are looking for and you follow listed guidelines to provide it. For example, if they are looking for a 2,000 word piece on eldercare challenges for baby boomers, you will write an article or blog post that conforms to the guidelines for an article or post. It would help to make your piece relevant to some current event or topic of discussion in the media.

* The pay is relatively fast --- some companies pay you instantly, on submission. Others may take a few weeks.

* There is a great need for freelance writers --- there is no shortage of freelance writing gigs and this is great news for people who write. Let your words put money in your bank account.

* It's not easy --- and yes, that can be a benefit. The fact that you need to know how to use words to educate and inform, entertain, evoke emotions or offer another point of view means that you've got far less competition. If this were easy, your average Janes and Joes of the world (no offense if your name just happens to Jane or Joe) would be cashing in on this like clockwork.

Based on some of the comments posted at the end of that blog post, it's sad that some people don't understand how freelance writing works. There are no guarantees. You are writing on spec (speculation). You can increase your ability to get paid for what you write by delivering the goods as specified in the guidelines (ex: writing within the word count/limit, focusing on the subject matter requested and delivering useful content the editors will see as valuable for their readership).

One poster at MoneyPantry.com called the article misleading, thinking she would be guaranteed to get paid based on her submissions. Writing is a skilled craft and not everyone has that skill. If you can barely piece five words together in a coherent sentence, why waste your time and that of others because you have dollar signs in your eyes?

If you don't like to write ... this is NOT for you.

If you can't write relatively well ... this is NOT for you.

Start off by visiting the sites you're interested in writing for. Read any updates because things will likely have changed over time. Rates may have increased or decreased ... or maybe they no longer pay for submissions at all.

Read what types of submissions they're looking for and what, if any, qualifications you need. You may not need a background in the subject area for most pieces but the more specialized a topic is, you should have some knowledge of what you're writing about.

Also, you should be able to find some downloads on BBHF about writing blog posts to help you hone your skills.

On the MoneyPantry.com site, click on each category under Table of Contents. You will see a list of online places, what they want and what they pay.

So give it a shot. If you like to write and write well, you can pull in some side-hustle cash without even leaving your home!

Here is another (more updated) site with more than 70 publications that will pay you handsomely for your written content ...

70+ PUBLICATIONS THAT PAY
$1 A WORD

[Image: 2019-07-08_1252.png]

GET IT HERE: This site gives you email addresses and other details you can use to query them. A query is simply a message or letter asking more about the requirements of the assignment; it may also be used to pitch (or soft-sell) the idea you may have in mind for submitting an article or blog post.

Further down this post, I added some direct download links to articles, blog posts and downloads to e-books that may help you on your freelancing journey. You will find more information on pitching and querying there.

@DacInBC: Thank you for the mirror with the PDF conversions for those Kindle ebooks. It took me a little longer than usual to research for this share; otherwise, I would have posted PDFs but I am exhausted now. I think I'll retire for the evening. I appreciate your mirror.

@kudos2you: Thank you for that kind post, friend. That is my whole purpose here ... well, besides grabbing good stuff and learning something new ... to help or inspire others. I want to feel like what I share helps someone else and I won't waste my precious time (or yours) with crappy shares --- only the best for my forum friends.

So, I am happy you found this share useful.

Thanks
