Strange enough, I have 3 sites hosted with 1&1, and no problems experienced over the past 2 years.

I think that just like everything else in life, there are 2 sides to a story and if I have difficulty with any service provider, I just make a Skype call to sort it out. I am non-US based and Online Marketing is obviously dominated by US service providers, so talking to them invariably has a better complaint resolution than just an email.

Just my 5 cents worth, which I hope others can learn from.

no problem with 1&1 just before expiration date unlock domain -> remove privacy -> transfer it to another
