I first decided to venture into this online marketing thing, all those
years ago I decided the best way was to build an affiliate website and
promote a product from Clickbank. I'm pretty sure most people have gone
down the same route.

didn't take me long to realize that just having a website won't make me
any money - and trying to pick and rank the right keyword well that was
a massive challenge in itself.

I had some success but it really was hit and miss and hardly enough to say goodbye to the day job which I dreamed of doing.

You know how it goes... you spend hours, days and months writing content, building backlinks, making sure all the content is SEO</acronym>'d correctly.

It
really is brain numbing stuff and knowing there are 1000's of others
competing against you to rank for the same keywords rally adds to the
stress.

No wonder so many people quit.

Then you wait and PRAY...

I'm
a real patient guy but waiting for my sites to get indexed and ranked
by Google was really testing and I would wake up everyday hoping it had
jumped a few places.

It really was a slow process not to mention the cost of backlinking etc really adds up before you've even made any money.

Then you hope you don't get GOOGLE slapped

And
once you do finally get ranked for a keyword and begin to see traffic
you're always vary that all it takes is one algorithm change from the

A tip, focus.
When you focus on 1 thing, you will most likely do it better and have more chance on success. Then with more experience, you can focus on different, wider, bigger things.

Yeah, focus is key. I always get distracted with new potentially lucrative ways of making money online and have yet to make a dime because I don't take action :(
