If that's the case, don't waste your time. I have put a lot of work into Thumbtack and wasted a lot of money on bids that never came through. Most of the bidders are cheapskates and often you will see that they decided to "do the project themselves" yet you still get charged for placing the bid. Lots of complaints on the web about Thumbtack and from my experience, many of them are justified. Hope this helps someone before they decide to start paying for bids.

Thanks for sharing this one, Rushie. I was curious about it since the salespage is so vague about the service being offered. Not a fan of blind salescopy. And thanks for the review, PersonofInterest. Repped!

Happy to help. Just hate to see people lose money, especially if they can't afford to! By the way, I repped 5 to Rushie for the offer. Thanks for the share anyway.

RE: Local Profits - JackHopman
Max Reps OP!

All of you are doing it wrong. To get people to throw their money at you to buy your service you need to first give them something of value!

Here is what I do when it comes to landing local clients or just about anyone who wants a website.

I give them 5 or 10 pages built using wordpress for free if they just signup to my hosting company. I have companies in my city as clients and I have some across the country away from me as clients. <<<< IT works you just need to give them something to justify the cost.

You can even do this without any money up front but having your website connected to your hosting provision would be beneficial to you.

What I stated above is enough of a golden nugget to help you without plugging my own source of hosting.
