A Good Website Backup Utility?
I've recently learned my lesson (the hard way) that
one needs to keep an up to date site backup on hand
no matter how good your host has been over the years.

Shiznit happens man!

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good website backup
software.

Preferably a one time cost, price is not important as
compared to quality. I don't mind paying for a good
quality product.

Of course it needs to be able to backup large databases
as well, ...probably goes without saying but thought I
better say it anyways.

Thanks for any and all responses.

If it's a wordpress website I recommend backupbuddy. it backs up everything and in a timely manner.
A free solution (if you don't want to download backupbuddy from this forum) is a plugin called Duplicator.

Plugins will work most of the time but sometimes they fail. If you have Control Panel with your hosting and you used Softaculous to install your WP then you can back up with Softaculous.

Just click on Softaculous then Wordpress. You will see a list of sites you have or hopefully the one you want to back up. There is an option in the list. You can either do a whole backup or just a database backup.

You may see that Softaaculous has been backing up for you every month.

Anyways, just another idea!

Thanks for your responses.

I'm talking about backing up an entire site with or without WP included.

Well there's a few WP blogs on this site plus a whole lot more
including a few big databases. So I need something that will backup
all of it.

Thanks for your response :)

Yes, I'm aware of the Softaculous backups but they only cover the WP sites.
I need something that will backup a huge site.

Thanks for taking the time to respond though :)

If you can afford a monthly plan, i would suggest you to go with codeguard

There also a open source project that pretty much does the same thing as codeguard (never tried myself) bup.github.io

You should also check your CPanel for backup options, if your allowed to create backups, thats the easier and cheaper way to do.
