Did you try that yourself?
Because let me tell you something my friend, GOOGLE HANGOUT IS THE MOST POWERFUL SEO STUFF that anyone can use in few minutes.
By streaming videos (using third party software)
By simply sharing slides/ screen
Or using your talking head

Obviously if you use it in the most competitive niche keyword, it wont work fast.
My last hangout was 3 days ago, and im holding first position for a local client, and the website went from 3rd page to 1st.
Precise keyword, not a generic one, if you do local seo, you get what i mean.

Here how i do
My product Is a middle density competition one (sometimes high, very high)
go to keywords planner, get like 10 similar keywords.
I create a hangouts and post 1 keyword in the hangout tittle.
Add 2 or 3 in a text description.

Do another hangout and so on.
With 10 hangout, you are assured to be at least in the 10 number positions in you-tube few times, and in my case as i use that for clients (companies) i usually take the 10 first position in you tube and few in google search.

Now, i didn't try the live event the guy is talking about, but sure will do.

NOTES:
IF YOU GUYS SHARE USEFUL CONTENT IN YOUR HANGOUTS, YOU WILL FAST BECOME AN AUTHORITY,

noticed that even a shiiiitty hangout with one image and a link to one website in the description, send a strong juice to the website and the ranking goes up fast, now, do that 2 or 3 times a week (obviously about your business) and see how you crush everybody else.

Example, while all the people out there are just uploading videos lets say on how to build a website with wp, try to do 3 to 5 hangout and you'll see, you'll pass all the famous ones easy.

Mix that with seo on site, social signals (white hat) etc etc.

What makes it a waste time? Ranking the video or actually getting sales?

I just tested this theory and ranked my first video following this method and I never used it before seeing this post.

So I know it works but the sales is yet to be seen. I didn't rank as quick as he did in the video but I did rank first page and in 5th position just on a test run.

Does the method work yes does it make sales not sure as I stated I just did this.
