zip is just fine. Just downloaded and unzipped. You made a mistake somewhere. Download it again. Reps to jani01 for the mirror.
BTW, at some point you have to import an api key to the code that you will receive from the WordPress BlogPress for Android Settings Page (as the documentation says). Don't know if it's from the dev. or somewhere inside the app zip. I don't have the time to search more now, but I thought you should know.
