If someone is using a nulled wordpress theme, can you know it is nulled?
For example, if my friend uses a nulled version of wordpress theme from themeforst, he can be sued?
You need to be careful using themes people share, they are usually infected, don't run them on a live site unless you've checked all the lines of code. You probably won't be sued but you're site could be shut down and you will have problems with your host

Never ever use WP themes or plugins if you can`t download it direct from the original source. And even then... still check the code. Majority of themes and plugins shared here and everywhere else are rife with malicious code.

Whats the possibility of using a theme from here and it getting my site banned, ive got a plan for a site and its at prelaunch (so i thought) 5 weeks and im getting 613 visits last month just by putting up content. I cant find a free wp theme that works with what i want it to do and i dont want to pay, but i also want it legit and not banned :(
maybe i should bite the bullet and buy a decent theme

I usually download and install nulled wordpress theme locally and use Exploit Scanner, Theme Check and Theme Authenticity Checker Plugins from Wordpress inventory to check for the Base64 Encode, eval and other backlinks.
After finding any Base64 Encode. I use free base64 decrypter available online to decrypt and determine where it is linking or directing. I am a noob. So I find this a good method to find out whether nulled theme has malicious links or something hazardous. However, it is always a risky business because you can't always outsmart the ones who have worked hard on their themes or nulled that theme.
