ActivePresenter
ActivePresenter – Advanced Screencast and Rapid eLearning Authoring Tool
ActivePresenter is a FREE alternative to Camtasia. Considering how powerful and useful ActivePresenter is, I wonder why it isn't brought up more often in the screen capture software discussions.
Let me say that Camtasia is a great piece of software and I still use it. However, ActivePresenter is very powerful and FREE. If I had to make the choice based on what I know now, I would save the $300 I spent on Camtasia and go with ActivePresenter instead.
And if you already own Camtasia, just stay with it and don't get disctracted with ActivePresenter. Again, Camtasia is excellent.
ActivePresenter has two paid versions, but the free version is more than enough for you to create screen tutorials and even includes some features you won't find in Camtasia, including:
- Text to speech. Let ActivePresenter read and speak your PLR</acronym> articles, add some video and you're all set.
- Insert "freeze frame" is another feature missing in Camtasia. Inserting a freeze frame allows the video to show the same frame for an extended period of time.
The only downside is, that because it's so powerful and has so many functions, ActivePresenter has a bit of a learning curve. But this is to be expected with any feature-packed software. And, ActivePresenter has good training videos as well as an in-depth training PDF. Plus, you won't need to learn many of the more advance features included in ActivePresenter in order to create potent screen capture videos.
ActivePresenter is all you'll ever need to create screen capture videos and to be honest, had I known about it earlier, I wouldn't have spent $300 on a license for Camtasia.
All in all, ActivePresenter is one of the best FREE programs of any kind you'll ever find.
If you want Camtasia but haven't bought it yet, don't! Instead, get ActivePresenter and save yourself $300.
