Please right from the day I tried this method I cannot use IDM till today.
It always pops up "IDM is registered with a fake serial key and shuts down immediately

What procedure do you follow?
I tried what the OP posted here but to no avail...

How do you edit the host file? When I edit my host file it changed to a txt document (host.txt)

Please I need your help

I followed exactly OP procedure.
Dont forget to disconect your pc from network doing this.
To make changes to host file simply drag and drop it into opened before notepad window, add necessary lines and pres CTRL+S
Make sure you deny write access to administrator after updating host file.
Its that simple. Good luck ;)

You might be asked by IDM to fix corrupted file (host) simply choose 'cancel'

nice share , but what if i have sofware like wamp server run on my pc (localhost) , is this will be problem ?

ok
before adding any info , name , ... serial number

1- install or reinstall IDM then exit info and close idm
" disconnect internet before installation "

2-for win8 also others. You need search and find notepad.exe and opening with run as administrator
win 8: type notepad in metor right click and then run as admin...
*** you don't need change permissions for hosts file *** I say again for more windows security!


3 - add all hosts without http:// or #

4- now , run idm and add info a fake email , ... SN# then just ignore all errors.
then open your IDM , done.

You don't need remove # before localhost : # 127.0.0.1 localhost in " hosts file "

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

You're adding hosts addresses and ip's for intenet download manager (IDM)

I had the patched one, but i unistalled it to see if it works.. well.. rep added, works perfctely!! thanks for the share! keep it up! =:O)

You can download IDM with Crack or idm with patch, you will get a notepad file with it which describes how to install and where to put which file. This is very simple and easiest way...

nice trick, i just got mine uninstalled 3 hours ago :D re-installing

It works but how can I stop the message that IDM was installed with a faked Serial Number???
