In a nutshell: register domain names that begin with "com". Like com-freestuff.us

Then make subdomains so you have something like freestuff.com-freestuff.us

Actually pretty d*** good idea if you do not get sued for using trademark names like author gives in examples (startbucks, dunkindonuts, etc).
