So, looking at my updated rankings today, I noticed that while my Yahoo and Bing ratings are doing their normal dance, EVERY ONE of my keywords took a hit from Google.
Do we have a new strategy as blackhatters? Do we know exactly what's been affected and what are the new no-no's?
Did you practice the post-penguin style of link building, ie, diversified links and anchors?
I did. Not only generic keywords, but semi-generic related keywords.
Did you just blast your money site? Like spam comment backlinks directly to money site using scrapebox/wiki blasters?
Sometimes I wonder if these penalties are random. I have a few sites and one of them was hit by the Penguin last year so I decided to just build some crappy links to it and the rest of my sites got quality links. Well, the sites getting the quality links improved after Penguin, but so did the site which was getting the crappy links.
I didn't really blast the money site.... always went through other sites... lots of link pyramids, etc. Mostly Web 2.0's pointing to the money site, though I did use GSM to get some high PR links with low OBL...
What Has Penguin 2.0 Targeted?
Like its predecessor, Penguin 2.0 is an anti-spam update primarily targeting backlinks and anchor text. If you’ve built low quality links en masse to your site targeting money keywords, the chances are you’ve been hit with some kind of ranking drop (in theory, anyway).
So... any fix? Keep building high quality links with generic keywords?
If you're site has dropped significantly I'd drop it and start a new one. I wasted a ton of time trying to fix some of my sites and finally gave up on them, in my opinion it's best to start over with a fresh site because you could waste a lot of time trying to fix it and get absolutely no where.
It still has some keywords that are in the top 20. I'm wondering if I could nuture them back into the top 10.
