ALL IN ONE PLACE PC INSTRUCTIONS
For Downloading and Installing XSitePro2
(latest version--2.51)!:


STEP 1: Edit your hosts file.

1a. Open Windows Explorer.

1b. Paste the next line into the window:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts\

1c. Choose to open with Notepad.

1d. Copy and paste the 6 lines which follow into your hosts file:


Note: The first character of # = a comment line.

1e. Click SAVE from the pull-down File Menu.
Note: Do not SAVE AS because then the file becomes hosts.txt.

1f. You may now close the hosts file.


STEP 2
download this copy

STEP 3: Install the XSitePro program by running the exe.

IMPORTANT:

a. Install the program into C:\Program Files\XSitePro2 where C: is the
hard drive to install to. If you change the hard drive, remember the :

b. Install the data file either to the default directory offered or to
G:\XSitePro-Data (replace G: and remember the colon).

WARNING: There is no opportunity to change this path later.
I forgot the colon after the hard drive letter in the path name and had to re-install.

c. Use the default name (XSitePro) for the very next screen.

STEP 4: During installation, enter the Registration Key

4.1. Enter this key manually to be on the safe side. That is, don't copy/paste.

4.2. Click Unlock. A "Key is valid" type of message should appear.


STEP 5: During installation, say Yes to the Resources Pack

5.1. A pop-up appears and asks if you want the latest Resources Pack.
Say yes.

5.2. A webpage appears. Click the download link.
You will be downloading a 259 MB resource exe file.


STEP 6: Install the Resource Pack

Double-click the resources exe file to run the Install Wizard.
Follow the prompts. This installs the resouces.


STEP 7: Check Your Installation

7.1. From the Start button, choose All Programs and start XSitePro that way.
Reason: Starting from the exe within Windows Explorer will
say that you have an invalid key.

7.2. Click the button for New Project. Fill in the fields.
You're just testing, so Learning to use XSP or something
along those lines is fine for the info you enter.

7.3. Click the button for New Website. Fill in fields.

7.4. Choose a template. If you can without an error,
congratulations!!! 100% WORKING COPY BABY!!!!

Just wanted to share my experiences with others that may want to give this a shot.

I followed every step in the instructions exactly but in the above steps I found a few inconsistencies ........

During the install it never gave an option to enter the key but I figured ...oh well, I can enter it later...

Everything installed according to the instructions but when I click on the "Unlock" it tells me invalid key.

Since I didn't get the "enter registration key" during my install I thought it may have been because I installed the resources pack before I ran Xsite for the first time to enter the key. So I uninstalled everything and got the same issue when trying to enter the key after install ....this time I didn't install the resource pack.

The only conclusion I can think of is that they have changed the info that was provided for the host file fix.

Or I am just doing it all wrong lol

Hey Dewdad,

i came up with the same problem, during the install he didnt ask me for the key, so i just finished the install ... and started the apap fp from my startmenu, there he asked me to download the ressourcepack and a few secs later for the key, it took a while for validating the key like 2-3 minutes, but it worked! :)

i got error when try to use it with the instruction?? any other member have same probs here??/
