it was a very old tool ...is it of any significance ??

How does this tool work without a database like spyfu or seomoz to feed off of?

Spyfu - PPC spying ONLY
SEOMoz - not enough resources, they do have the tools, but they don't have big enough index, so it's worthless. I have PRO account there for a year now, but I use them mostly for some reports they provide, which look cool - clients are stupid, ya know..
SEMRush - very good for estimating traffic, also now has facebook ads and PPC stats, but the estimates are wrong. Organic is good.
Ahrefs - the best way to check organic backlinking - biggest index i've found so far
SEOSpyglass has also a good index (from SEOPowersuite). It costs around $79 i think (if you contact them personally asking for coupon).

What I would suggest is to fuck tools that "spy" your competition, haven't checked this one, but screw it. Do it manually and you'll have the greatest results. Software can help only if you know what you're doing and what it does.
ALso a good thing is to spy yourself first, so you can "normalise" the stats from the different services with the real valuse and later you'll know if 4000 visitors/month means 400 or 6000... I hope I was clear enough.

I was interested in PPC spying only. It can be very useful in certain niches. You can't search google for PPC intel because google doesn't cache adwords ads for obvious reasons so you do need a spy that's been recording this data for years. No way around it. It can save a lot of money by telling you what works and what doesn't to a certain extent before you burn money on "split testing" and all those shenanigans
