Updating via cPanel (Recommended)

• Download the latest InstaBuilder update
• Login to your cPanel, and go to Files >> File Manager. A pop up box will appear >> select “Web Root” and click Go.
• Locate your WordPress installation directory, and browse to wp-content/plugins/
• Click the Upload button on the toolbar at the top (a new browser tab
  will appear). On the upload screen, click the browse button, and
  choose the update patch that you’ve just downloaded.
• Once it’s uploaded, go back to the plugins directory. If you can’t
  see the zip file you just uploaded, click the “reload” button.
• Right click on the zip file, and choose Extract (just click “Close” when a popup box appear). That’s it.

Updating via FTP

• Download the latest InstaBuilder update
• Unzip and extract the zip file to your computer. Now you should have
  a new folder called “InstaBuilder” with some files and sub-folders
  inside it.
• Open your FTP program (you can use Filezilla if you don’t already have one) and connect it with your host.
• Locate your WordPress installation directory and browse to
  wp-content/plugins/InstaBuilder, and upload ALL the extracted files and
  folders into this server directory.
• Your FTP program might ask you whether you want to replace/overwrite the files or not. Please choose replace or overwrite.

i followed your FTP steps and still get a activation message - Before you can use InstaBuilder, please activate your license using the form below.

If you have installed the previous version 1.13, then you will see a notification to update on top of your wordpress admin page. To update to the new version, you simply hit the "Install Update Now".
