M3 is for promoting your own products/services/CPA/lead gen. You get the spot free since the other two are paying for it. The other two think it's split 3 ways but by using extremely low-cost printing, they really are splitting it 2 ways.
Quasar Wrote:Hi Bob!

I don’t post here often and, rather than do so in the WF, I will do it here – especially since you have made an appearance.

As a professional copywriter and marketing consultant, I tip my hat to you. You wrote some “sort of” clever copy to sell a concept in a guide that was badly written but offered the promise of being the “end all” of offline direct mail marketing.

Readers are convinced you are delivering the proverbial “pot-o-gold” at the end of the rainbow. They have been convinced this - all by itself - is a million dollar gig.

As for taking this down - why would you want to do something so dumb?

You have handed men dying of thirst in the middle of the Sahara Desert a bottle of water – only you limited the amount of water they could consume to a tablespoon.

Doing just a tiny bit of math and assessing your offer and fulfillment as a professional, you will make no less than 10-20 times the sub-ten bucks this product costs per WSO buyer. As badly written as the guide is, what you are making bank with is all the backend stuff that nine out of ten buyers will deduce they MUST buy to do this right.

You make lots of serious bucks leaving this up – but I like your style implying the guide is something really valuable.

You are giving people that spoonful of water with the knowledge that they have to buy other stuff - which is marketing at its best. You are presenting them with one weak email and a weaker follow-up piece to prospect, never explained the math or expenses involved, and did a masterful job of putting together a great 30-page sales letter as the fulfillment. You even made sure to add a couple of additional PDFs selling your other stuff (printing and mailing services) and affiliate/JV offers all by themselves.

Great Job Bob!

But hell, you didn’t even get into the design and copy and those are the things that convert ANY offers in ANY medium – using ANY offline process - into customers, callers - real dollars for the participants. As you have done so brilliantly in packaging your offer – no mention was made of the most critical component – the offer. That has to be done right or the rest doesn't matter. The product can kind of suck as long as it is a monster offer.

Is writing and designing the offers going to be yet another WSO?

For every reader of this post, you need to really look at this as a clever 30-page sales letter that does have a workable opportunity in it. But the bulk of it is subtle sales copy to get you to buy other stuff. You won’t be able to do this for free and we can blow-up that mirage right now.

Implementation on a level that will make you any substantial income will cost you at least a few hundred bucks more - just for the information to do it – minimum. Actually producing it will cost you a few hundred to a few thousand bucks more - UNLESS you can collect ALL the money upfront from the co-op participants - which is the only way you should do this at all.

If you are really good at face-to-face sales, you can get in front of people and probably get checks today.

BUT

What do you do then?

Bob only gives you one spoonful of water out of that big bottle – there is lots and lots of stuff that isn’t in the guide. You have to buy a continuity component to get more questions answered - or other WSOs

You will need to find graphics and copy guys – and in the latter category – I can positively tell you we are not cheap. The good ones like me will cost you well into five figures for a single sales letter.

Hey - good stuff costs real money.

You will also need to have lots more info about printing, mailing and fulfilling your promises to the co-op participants of the mailing(s). You will need to coordinate the use of their artwork, logos and copy that will be in “your” postcard or mailer.

And the timing of Bob’s products is perfecto – 4th quarter! Prime time to get businesses to reach into their pockets in the “make it or break it” end-of-year rush.

The bottom line?

You won’t get everything you need – even in ten guides like this. I’ve been doing this since the late 70s and Bob shows you one tiny piece of the puzzle. And this is exactly what he is counting on – this is by design.

Exceptional Offer Bob!

It shows the writing can suck in the execution as long as the offer is delivered – albeit not even close to being satisfactory fulfillment of the innuendo in the sales letter.

But it is a marvelous example of a pitch guide!

To get more than a peek behind this curtain, you’ll have to pony-up a bunch more money and lots of time too. The telling moment in the guide is the one-two month completion time, which is actually close to being accurate.

But the best part is the guide - once again - is a masterful 30-page sales letter in the form of a guide that is full of his own offers, affiliate programs and JV stuff he is pitching. This is worth the price all by itself. You can see how to put your own super-converting offer together that blows people away.

From a copywriting and sales perspective – BRAVO BOB!

You have done a wonderful job of getting at least a couple of hundred bucks in net profit-per-head from a cult following. Only we professionals can cut through the crap and know exactly what this is.

If you are new or blind – or both – this is a window that is barely cracked. This WILL work, but you will need to work your ass off to make it work without a lot more info and more importantly – some bucks too.

Sorry Bob – I am not ready to anoint you as a messiah. But you sure do know how to make money with a blind, inept following.

Perhaps that might make a good WSO next time. What will that be? Four WSOs this year – it must be tough to walk away from the offline millions you are making using these exact methods yourself, huh?

Oh before I conclude this - I do agree with you completely about the uselessness of Facebook, Twitter and many other near-worthless things that are for the "soda pop and bubble gum" crowd. Those strategies and tactics really are short-lived and kid stuff.

Isn't it wonderful that people like Bob and I can make FREE or low-cost make you spend a few hundred bucks or more? Don't ever let anyone convince you that great copy is not worth the price - it can make you stinking rich!
