Somebody remind me again why it's supposed to be a good idea to have to thank people before getting to check the goods? Every link should contain a virus total report.

For me, the 'thanks' is a symbol of our gratitude to the poster for time and effort to have a product available to the community (or other insight/knowledged shared).
The 'rep' is an expression of the usefulness of the particular item to the person giving the 'rep', either personally or a recognition of the value shared.
