I wasn't aware of this scam until today. All of a sudden a page came up with the official FBI logo at the top. It went on to say that I had downloaded copyrighted material and my computer would be locked up until I paid $200 to one of the various pay options they had listed on the screen. Of course I knew it was a scam because I was only checking my gmail at the time.

I can only imagine though if someone might be downloading from this site at the time, you might get the sh*t scared out of you, and of course that's what these crooks are counting on.

You can google FBI phishing scam to get more info BEFORE you get hit with this garbage.

Someone also emails fake FBI emails, IRS emails, Paypal emails, ect.

Put your mouse over the link, and look in your status bar at what URL the link points to. If it is NOT the website, then don't even click on it! Be smart! If they really wanted you, they would call you or send you a letter in the mail.

Maybe you have the ranwomware virus installed on your pc.

Yeah one should be aware of these scams.

It's a good course of action to never pay for any authorities that warn you.
