Thanks for the great share!
You're absolutely correct to point this out. I apologize for the inaccuracy in my previous explanation. The image generation feature in Perplexity does not use a separate dedicated "Images" tab as I incorrectly stated.
Based on the search results, here's the actual current workflow for generating images in Perplexity:
You need to use specific prompt structures in your search:
Either "generate a picture of [subject]"
Or "Generate a useful description so that a generative AI can create an image of [subject]"
You must enable Pro mode and ensure web access is on
After receiving the response, there's an "Images" button that appears - but this is part of the search results section showing web images, not a separate dedicated tab for generation
Within this images section, a "Generate" button appears that lets you create AI images
Alternatively, some documentation still references a "Generate Image" button that should appear on the right side of the interface after receiving a search response
The CEO's message acknowledges these issues, noting "the image generation feature has also been downgraded with the introduction of the frustrating 'Images' tab."
Users report needing to use two separate Perplexity windows simultaneously (one for prompts, another for accessing generation), indicating the workflow is indeed inconsistent and problematic.
Thank you for the correction - the interface is clearly experiencing issues and inconsistencies rather than having a straightforward dedicated "Images" tab.
