Be Prepared! Time-tested advice on emergency preparedness. An official publication of the Boy Scouts of America!
Each year hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts find themselves in an unexpected outdoor emergency. They get lost, injured, or stranded. Cut off from the rest of the world, they have to depend upon their survival skills to survive.
For most people, thanks to modern communications such as cell phones, satellite messengers, and personal locator beacons (PLB), it is merely a sobering two- or three-hour adventure. However, for some who did not take the proper precautions before they left home or do not have survival skills, it can end in tragedy.
The Scout's Handbook for Wilderness Survival and First Aid offers practical advice to help
Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The BSA is committed to training youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities.

Sometimes timing really matters, this may be such a time, as potentially, China may attack the U.S. and it's allies over Taiwan and the entire Western Pacific region and tensions are high.
China has created a huge military since 2011, it's built to win by attrition. China can replenish faster than the U.S. can.
If there is a war, simulations show big loses for both sides with the U.S. projected to lose two carriers and would appear to be a multi year process.
These books may save a few lives as it would get ugly, it may even reach U.S. soil in the form of spies and sabotage, ie it appears that China has been buying land near military bases in the U.S.
I hope and pray calmer minds prevail to avoid this possible conflict.

Also, if you use supplements, like vitamins, medicines, and bandages. Stock up, as most of them come from China and getting them will become challanging/harder to get, including Rubbing Alcohol and brown bottle Hydrogen Peroxide, and anything in a Dollar store. Cleaning products too.

Hi sprawn
While I agree with you that it is always good to be prepared and have practical skills, I would not worry about China much. Sure tensions are high and China keeps saying things, but the bottom line is they know they could never win AND that it would hurt them a lot more than it would hurt the west.
A few things to consider.
- China needs the world for food as they can only grow about 70% of what they need.
- China imports about 80% of it's energy... Almost All oil goes via 2 choke points with the nastiest one being the Malaca Straights (look at the maps and go just a little West of Singapore). 2 US Destroyers could completely shut that off and they go dark very quick.
- China's Military has almost Zero real world experience at fighting and does not have a complete Command And Control system like the American's have.... America is good at many things, but one of the best is dealing out massive destruction.
- China does NOT have a Blue Water Navy, so sure they can send out a lot of missiles and stuff from their mainland and that would cause huge damage, but after that the entire Western World would blockade everything going to them.
Right now you can see that China's economy is tanking. Huge unemployment, Real Estate is crashing, money is fleeing the country and so are the foreigners. On top of all of that, the young people have no interest in getting married or having kids, so the population numbers are very, very bad.... And getting worse all the time. For ages they had a One Child Policy, so many families wanted a son to carry on the family name. This means that the ratio of men to women is way out of wack.....
Xi, the leader of China has big problems, and like most authoritarian leaders around the world, when in trouble, distract the masses by saying/doing stupid stuff. In Xi's case this is beating the Nationalist drum... "Taiwan is China and we must have it"...
Problem is, the hardest type of battle to do is landing on a beach after crossing water. Taiwan is like a Porcupine armed to the teeth with stuff that would smoke any ship coming at them... Yes, China has a large Navy, but only 9 large landing craft for troop movement.... many of the ships in the Navy are small ones like Coast Guard Cutters. They use them to intimidate fishing boats and stuff, but come war time all of those are instantly toast if they decide to get in the fight.
Taiwan is a bunch of mountains and the would be firing down at ships approaching... Sitting ducks.
Sure they can fire a crap load of missiles, but Taiwan can fire right back and all of the Chinese cities (the big ones) are all within range and very near to the coast....
On top of that, a missile strike on the 3 Gorges Dam would send a massive flood downstream and kill millions and wipe out a few large cites along with it.
So, Xi will keep barking crap, but he and his Generals know that to strike Taiwan is stupid....
Their navy is big, but ours is much better.
Their air-force is big, but ours is much better.
Their CnC is non existent, and ours is the best on the planet.
They don't really have dependable Allies, we have a boat load of them and all of them are arming up to the teeth.
I am currently in Australia and the Yanks and Aussies are building MASSIVE air, navy, and army bases in the Northern Australian territory. All are within range to completely shut off all oil and food shipments to China very easily.... And support all operations between Australia to Japan.... And the Air Bases in Alaska have the largest fleet of F-35 and F-22 in the world....
If war broke out, in 3 months, China would be out of energy and in 6 months people start starving to death.
Nope, I am not worried about China. They got no chips and things are all going down hill for them.
Cheers,
G.S.
