This is a black-hat site!

Until recently, this brand new member was grabbing files like the rest of us. They even paused to add +REPs for a few of my recent posts.

They were all cool with me and stuff --- until something happened.

So, let me fill you in on what this is really all about...

It started when I got a +REP for something I shared and I saw the username. Originally, it was the first and last name I use on my Icedrive account. Incidentally, neither is my real name.

I then sent a PM to a moderator to see if they can ask this newly-joined member to change their username or (if not) ban them. No harm/no foul --- since they had just created their account and didn't have any standing in the community.

Almost immediately, I get this rambling PM saying I'm in trouble now --- they know everything about me and they're going to send authorities to my front door. Blah-blah-blah...

They provided info they thought was legitimate. It's not. I don't use real info in my accounts because I know some people, by nature, have their snotty noses shoved too far into other people's business because their own life has so little meaning.

All-in-all... this is not a legitimate threat. Firstly, nowhere is there any reference to WHAT this person has a knot-in-their-knickers about. I can tell you, it's that they abused the generosity of someone who shares by swiping their full (fake, nonetheless) username from an account. I haven't shared anything they have ever written.

This person is immature and their feelings are hurt because I reported them. That's what this is all about.

To be sure, they would have to threaten a lot more people here than me if they were really worried about someone stealing other's hard work.

Hell, they would have to go to all the free file share sites all over the web. And don't overlook Google! That's where I get a lot of the stuff I share. So I'm simply sharing what's already out there.

But what about people who don't secure their products properly? Or those who purchase from vendors and post the links to file share sites?

I'm not the real culprit here. And again, this person seemed to harass me only after they were confronted about publicly using a name inside of my file share account.

So who's stealing from who?

The problem started when the same PM I sent to a moderator was inadvertently forwarded along with the moderator's message, asking the guilty party to simply pick a new username. Had that not been done, I don't think I would be dealing with this nutcase.

And the irony of it all...? This person actually gave me at least a couple of +REPs for a recent share (see images below) not too long ago. They didn't seem to have a problem with me stealing other people's hard work then, did they?

This forum is only as good as its members. For a long while, it was the BEST black-hat forum. Here lately, though, it has seen its share of unstable people. So, unfortunately, I'm now on the receiving end of this but hey, it is what it is.

I'll just sit this out and see what (if anything) the forum admins can do about the annoying posts and PMs. I don't want to stoke the flames of stupidity with this miscreant any more than I must. Clearly, they're imbalanced and immature.

So, if you happen to see someone posting silly threats about me stealing someone else's hard work --- generic references with no specific titles to the works I'm "stealing" --- then you should know this person is NOT the author of these works. They should know better than to come to a black-hat site to GET but complain when someone calls them to task for stealing an identity they found when they downloaded a file from them.

While, in reality, I'm not Thank You --- it is still a name I've chosen to use on some of my accounts. I've used it for quite a while. I have also been a member of BBHF for a long time and I try to be a service to the community. This person shows up out of nowhere --- having done diddly-squat for anyone ---- and starts shit.

Hopefully, the mods can do something about it. If not, I will share less of the gems I find --- so it's no sweat off my nose. With football season just around the corner, I've got better things to do with my time.

Wow! It never ceases to amaze me as to how slimy, evil and vindictive people can be! This guy is a slimeball, for sure. I am glad his underhanded tactics were exposed.

Really appreciate you giving us a rundown of everything for context and clarity. There are some nutcases in the world and here on BBHF, too. I love the way you get right to it with your words and stick it to 'em!

Albeit this kind of stuff can be a pain in the butt to address and deal with, please keep doing what you have been doing! You are definitely a priceless jewel here on BBHF, not just because of the things you share, but because of all of the things you do to teach other people how to fish! Just know that you are appreciated and valued.

10der1: Thank you so much for the encouragement and support. I appreciate you for reporting him, as I did. And I thank all the others who sent me a PM about the spam on my threads. I work hard to produce valuable shares... then along comes a loser to sh*t all over them.

It's the good people here that I do this for. Unfortunately, the undeserving also get the prime value that BBHF offers. And now, we have the thin-skinned variety that will "go off" like an undisciplined child at little or nothing.

@fjohnson59: Yes, he seems unbalanced, at the very least. So far, I have received one or more PMs from him under different user identities or IP addresses --- so clearly, he's using a VPN.

He finally smartened up and stopped adding a number to his stolen moniker and now uses several completely different IDs.

On yesterday, he sent me some funky-looking link that wasn't a real link, thinking perhaps I was dumb enough to use it.

Today, I get another one under a new user ID. It said he was aware that someone was "spamming my threads" and it morphed into a sweetly-sarcastic tone praising my writing skills.

I value my time and I don't suffer fools lightly but from here on out, ignoring him is the best I can do. He'll soon get bored with this silly game.

I'm just sorry to bother the admins with this crap because they've got enough to deal with. But harassment should not be tolerated.

To be sure, he's not running me away. I'll decide when I don't want to be here anymore; but I tell you what --- if and when I leave, it is due to several years of discontent I have felt here that will do it.
