I watched the affiliate marketers video and as he describes it, this was a competition for the bonuses. He just wasn't giving the bonuses away for buying through his link. His affiliate page for the bonuses now says "You missed out."
EDIT: Nevermind...I figured it out. I guess he was trying to get a lot of launch day sales. The bonus page was available directly after purchase.
