Whether you're looking for a side-hustle, an occasional gig or a full-time enterprise, there are plenty of ways to earn money that can set you apart from the masses.

Ideas for starting your own enterprise are just about everywhere, yet many of us only consider the same things that others are doing.

No matter where you get your information, the advice will assume that...

#1 - You have some skill, knowledge or ability you can use to stand out in the crowd;

#2 - You have the gumption to put your energy into the endeavor to give it a fighting chance;

#3 - You plan to upgrade your knowledge or improve your abilities over time;

#4 - You understand that promotion and publicity are key to marketing your business to attract steady, loyal customers or patrons;

#5 - You expect some competition but you are willing to set your business apart with some unique aspect, approach or angle your competitors lack;

#6 - You understand that business takes time and that you will be rewarded by putting your energy and some of your profits back into building your brand and business; and that

#7 - You are willing to do something new or different if what you current do isn't working or is lacking in results.

So, below, I present links that go to readings, downloads and resources designed to get you thinking about ideas for starting a business.

If you already have a business, these links may help you to look for exciting new ways to promote your existing business or expand it to new areas and markets.

Some links go to older sites with dated information. I did this to show you that even old business ideas could spark inspiration if you think of it in a different way --- such as applying a business method that has been used one way to a completely different product, service or target audience.

Keep an open mind as you read. You never know when inspiration will hit you. The right idea, at the right time, can kick your business into overdrive and give you an entirely new lifestyle.

@StillStanding: Thank you for posting, my friend. I know I said earlier I wouldn't be continuing my Layna's Links Letters series but I decided to do one every-now-and-again, like when I find lots of links on a particular subject; especially if I feel they will be useful to someone on BBHF. So you'll see them off-and-on.

As for my Saints, I had a weird feeling about this game, so I recorded it but decided not to watch it live because I'm so emotionally vested in them and Jameis has left me vapid in strength so early in the season. My sister just called to give me an update and at the moment, with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, she tells me that they are ahead and the defense had just sacked Kirk Cousins for a big loss of yardage. I plan to watch it later tonight at dinner... IF they pull it off.

I will be leaving the forum, though, in a few minutes (after typing this) to enjoy a full slate of games the rest of the day and on tomorrow night.

After posting this share, I thought about the title of my post and only now realized that some of the business ideas in these links do not fall into the odd and unusual category --- indeed, they comprise activities like blogging, creating online courses and such --- but I did not go through ALL of the links, so you will find a few ideas that are outside of the norm. When looking for something truly unusual, just be sure there is enough of a market for you to make good money.

The whole point in my presenting this is to help you think of ways other than the same-old-stuff to bring in money.

There are two ways to look at any situation. Heavy competition scares most people but that could mean walking away from higher profits. And low competition can be a benefit or a bust, depending on what you're doing. There is no sense in working harder (doing something usual or odd) if the end result (profit) doesn't justify it.
