When you hear the word “flour” you probably don’t associate it with almonds. In fact, you probably picture stalks of wheat or a bag of bleached white pastry flour. You may be surprised, then, to hear that you can actually make flour from almonds. In fact, flour can be made from a number of unconventional ingredients including coconut, chestnuts and other nuts. The options are endless!
What is Almond Flour?

Blanched almonds (almonds with skins removed) are generally preferred for making almond flour but whole almonds can also be used – flour made with whole almonds is often called almond meal.
