Just wondering - how many people prefer Prestashop to Wordpress, or, for that matter, Shopify?

They each offer their respective features that depending on your experience can help you achieve the goal of selling products online.
Each has core features for creating your e-com outfit.
I haven't used Pretashop, but being an experienced wordpress developer, I would chose wordpress over any platform for the simple fact that I can personally OWN the platform my CMS is hosted on.
Shopify - Excellent platform for NEWB's to get a shop up running with all the vital selling signals/plugins and features necessary to create a successful e-com outfit.
Could be some learning curve but overall has everything you need to get a competent store up and earning.
Negatives - There is a monthly fee, you don't really own your store since it's hosted on shopify's Saas platform. Even if self hosted, you still need to pay monthly fee's to run your store, don't pay that fee, lose access to your store. I don't like building web businesses on third party platforms. They have access to your seller data, customer info, etc. Can wake up and your store shutdown and profits gone.
Wordpress - Great platform if you are experienced with using wordpress, has store creation features where you can basically import the theme you want installed and monetization plugins necessary for your store to be successful. Whatever plugin available on Shopify, there is an alternative for Wordpress.
You truly own your store, your WP install is on YOUR domain, utilizing YOUR hosting and YOU own your store, whatever hosting fees you have is what your monthly cost will be. You can SELL your e-com business/store after revenue starts to dovetail.
Negatives - Requires you to know how to configure and troubleshoot wordpress issues if any. Nothing a backup and restore can't resolve.
Pretashop - See Shopify's Negatives.
