@actionguy: I'm sorry to hear that. Do you think the problem is with your computer settings or country of origin? If so, try using a VPN to cloak your computer's IP address and select another country to mask your own. I can't be sure that that will work, but it could.
Otherwise, I remember reading that even when you see the "offer" to subscribe to a particular Scribd plan, you should ignore that and just scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for the document you're trying to download. There should be a DOWNLOAD button or link --- and click it to get the download.
Another way to GET on Scribd is to GIVE. When you upload a document from your own computer, you can download one.
I haven't tried that so far but I remember seeing several of my Layna's Links Letters showing up in the search engines (on Scribd) a while back. I sent Scribd a DMCA and they took them down but I now know that some miserable miscreant from BBHF (the only place I shared them) had "traded" my work (that cost them nothing but the energy it takes to hit the download button) to get yet something else for nothing.
Anyway, here are a few links to give you more details on ways to download from Scribd. One way is to sign up for a free trial subscription but you will have to cancel before the 30 days is up or you will get charged; but there are other options.
There are others; just do a search for Scribd download sites to find them. And as I said, I'm still looking for a way to grab audiobooks, e-books, podcasts, presentations and other formats without a registered free (or paid subscription) account. It seems only DOCUMENT formats can be downloaded on the sites I have found.
for liking my shares!
