Don't growl - it IS a joke - and not even a new joke - but...:
It does describe a framework that can actually be (and often is) used very, very well:

The kids filed into class Monday morning.
They were all very excited.
Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on salesmanship.

Little Sally led off:
“I sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30” she said proudly, “my sales approach was to appeal to the customer’s civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success.”

“Very good”, said the teacher.

Little Debbie was next:
“I sold magazines” she said, “I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events.”

“Very good, Debbie”, said the teacher.

Eventually, it was Little Johnny’s turn.
The teacher held her breath.
Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher’s desk.
“$2,467”, he said.

“$2,467!” cried the teacher, “What in the world were you selling?

”Toothbrushes”, said Little Johnny.

“Toothbrushes”, echoed the teacher,
“How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?”

“I found the busiest corner in town,” said Little Johnny,
“I set up a Dip and Chip stand and I gave everybody who walked by a free sample.”
They all said the same thing, “Hey, this tastes like dog shit!”
Then I would say, “It is dog shit. Wanna buy a toothbrush?

I used the method of giving you some crap, dressing it up so it looks good, telling you it’s free and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth.

Little Johnny got five stars for his assignment.

Enjoy and Prosper in Perfect Health !!
It reminds me of the classic movie 'The Kid' by Charlie Chaplin 47happy
Wow!

Amazing twist.
Thanks legend for this post.

I've read an article years ago :

https:// postcron . com/en/blog/10-amazing-marketing-lessons-steve-jobs-taught-us/

where I love these Brilliant Quotes by Steve Jobs:

Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #1: Make a Great Product.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #2: Don’t Sell Products, Sell Dreams.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #3: Focus on the Experience.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #4: Turn Consumers Into Evangelists, Not Just Customers.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #5: Master the Message, (and now that we’re on the subject, the delivery too).
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #6: Decisions Should be Made by a Group, Not a Committee.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #7: Find an Enemy.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #8: Keep the Design Simple, and When You Get There, “Simply it Even More”.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #9: You don’t Have to be the First, but “You’ve Got to be the Best”.
Steve Jobs Marketing Lesson #10: Innovate or Die.

Those lessons making him the very best / outstanding innovator in the world. He was truly inspired us ... but we were very sad that he has pass away due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 56 in October 2011. He was truly a Real Legend ...

Sad
As someone who worked upon many, many of the original Apple PCs before the iapple stuff took over 100%, the history of that entity is well known to me, but:
Most of the followers of that evangelism neither know - nor are they even willing to look at what their religious icon truly is now and exactly how it came to be.

The 'i' stands for intel - which is what the stuff uses now instead of the original Motorola CPUs which made Apple famous.
(And in what I write here today I use 'PC' to mean 'personal computer' and NOT as the IBM type except for at the very last mention here.)

Initially the Steves and their 3rd partner had an instant 'in' for marketing - the world's cheapest PC.
That it was made possible via using the cheapest parts and a Unix-based OS only mattered for creating the certainty that those folks profitted as well as they did.

When they moved onward from that generation they also had the 1st really easy to use PC to offer - and that was their 2nd instant 'in'.

Their turning into making so much stylish, fancy stuff came much later and has since become the focus of their iconic branding.

Hereabouts comes what the true believers prefer to ignore:
That company went through several very dramatic periods of failure.

The last of which having changed their corporate culture totally and radically.

Their early almost total failures resulted from trying to very quietly cheat customers by shipping out known defective hardware because the company had gone broke and did that to 'raise money' - but it got caught red handed.

In between there were some other nearly fatal times - but it is the last almost death that is most worthy of note.

That came after M$ had driven them so far down that the ONLY saving grace was possible via acceptance of a 'goodwill donation' from uncle beezlebub bill of ~$180 million (via stocks, etc.) to keep that company afloat.
It was publicly described as an 'investment' whereas it was used to corrupt Apple's long dedication to keeping its IP protected - but now all of it is wide open to MS and has been used quite visibly in their newest products.

If you watch this video you'll see why the i-things came soon thereafter, as well as how the original AppleOS got corrupted into the 100% intel-based thing it is today.

Quote:Macworld Boston 1997-The Microsoft Deal
Steve Jobs and the almost bankrupt at the time Apple Computer making a deal with Bill Gates and Microsoft.
The crowd was not too happy about it.

This info is not easy to dig up - and not at all well known (or even accepted at all by the religious devotees.)

Finally - to round all this out just a little, in the present day there is some worthwhile info about this thriving M$ property to have a look at...

If there's any lingering doubt that apple is a full fledged religion, this shrine proves it:

The above portion starts at 8:07, the full 10+ minutes is here:

And now we know why those idevices cost so much - they have to finance all that religiously motivated frippery !!!
(Even though they are now all just variations of the IBM type PC running a radically changed Apple branded OS.)

Please, be careful and gentle if you try to explain any of the actual history to any of the true believers - because it will cause them immeasurable pain and traumatic difficulty due to having chosen emotional safety via cognitive dissonance.
Wow, thank you very much for valuable resource presented here.

I really never expect that.

I read some history about Apple vs Microsoft. But for me, I prefer Steve Jobs due to his philopsphy and teaching...

Really big thanks for your videos listed here. Truly a great sharer in this community like other legends here.

Thanks Nice Thread Happydance
Thank you so much for the marketing lessons!
This world is just filled with all sorts of marketing tricks !!

If/when one is willing to look DEEPER than the manipulations in use to create such superficial appearances, there is ALWAYS good stuff hidden there just waiting to be learned.
