I decided to write down my method for obtaining free Kindle eBooks. This appears to be not very well known.
Steps for Obtaining Free Kindle eBooks
Without turning on someone else’s affiliate link.
There are a couple of advantages to this. The Kindle eBooks are free. You can get almost an unlimited number of eBooks (I have over 16,000 and climbing). I have been checking Amazon several times a week for a couple of years to reach that number. I choose mostly non-fiction. You do not have to store the eBooks, Amazon does that. You can read on the cloud or download them to any of your devices. You can also share them with somebody, but for a limited amount of time.
This could be called the Browsing Method. You could also do searches on a specific topic and sort by price from low to high.
1. Log in to Amazon
2. On the pull-down menu – select Kindle Store and click on the magnifying glass
3. Click on Best Seller and More
4. Click on Kindle Best Sellers
5. On the left I select Kindle eBooks
6. Under Kindle eBooks, I select a topic. You can drill down and select more specific sub-topics.
7. Select Top 100 Free – depending on the screen size you will probably see 50 titles and book covers per page for 2 pages.
8. Right-click on a book(s) you are interested in and open a new tab.
9. Select the tab with the books you are interested in. You can “Look inside” and also see other information about the book.
10. Double check that the Kindle Price is $0.00 and then “Buy now with 1-Click”. Like I said earlier, you read it on the cloud with a Kindle Cloud Reader or have it delivered to your registered device.
11. If you inadvertently purchase a Kindle eBook for money, you can reverse the order for a full refund. I have done this several times with no issues.
By looking at the number of star reviews, it will give you an idea of how new the eBook is. If it has no stars, it is probably new. If it has hundreds of star reviews, it has been around a while. You can also “Look Inside” the eBook to see the publication date.
Depending upon the sub-topic, there may be 100 eBooks or just 5 eBooks. Having free eBooks is a marketing system used by some authors. Amazon has rules about free eBooks, so book selection is constantly changing. Authors use free eBooks to try and get reviews for when their eBooks become paid eBooks. If they have a series of eBooks on the same subject, the free eBooks may be an enticement to buy the other eBooks.
You will find some hic-ups on the Amazon website. There are a couple of eBooks in the free section that have a purchase price and have been there for a while. I have tried to point this out to Amazon without any luck. I recently found an eBook that was not available for purchase. That I do not understand.
Enjoy
