BOOK WRITING SOFTWARE: 11 PROGRAMS TOBRING YOUR NEXT BOOKTOLIFE
+ Much More FromReedsy.com
(SPOILER ALERT: Nothing to Download But Still Lots of Value)
I made a mistake today.
I read an email from Martin Cavannagh at Reedsy.com telling me to go and read a blog post about the best book writing programs. If you use Microsoft Word to write your books, Cavannagh says these programs have features that could improve your productivity and make the output easier.
Well, my "mistake" was visiting Reedsy.com.
I enjoyed the article so much that I started checking out links to other articles. There was so much interesting "writer-help" there that I spent nearly an hour --- an hour that I had not intended to!
I'm in the process of getting my lost files back (from a Windows partition issue). I've got recovery software running in the background. Most recently, I've had both TechSmith and Mega customer support on speed-dial and am glad those issues are resolved. I've had to re-install a lot of my programs and just recovered 25 TB of data from downloads alone. Right now, I'm running the recovery program for my Windows system stuff and it looks like this is going to be a long, drawn-out ride.
But anyway, I don't have a lot of time. But Reedsy isn't a place you want to go if you're in a hurry.
The article lists 11 programs that help writers to be more productive. They vary at different price points (from FREE to budget-friendly to pricey). So there is something for everyone.
When you get to the website, click the green text link for each software title to be taken to the page for the download (if free) or purchase page. Be advised, the link is on Reedsy.com and I'm not sure if they get compensated for purchases made on that link. If you prefer, though, do a search for the official product site using the product name in Google.
Cavannagh says these apps offer you a flexible, user-friendly option to Microsoft Word (if that is what you are using now); most of them with prices that won't shock your budget.
There is an easy-to-read chart that shows the software titles, their prices and features. Then each program is discussed individually.

Cool. Thanks. I've been meaning to try my hand at writing some science fiction. I have been writing many synopsis for years but haven't looked into how to write a book. Always seemed too daunting a task.
Yes, writing a book can be a tad intimidating but there are lots of sites for writers that break it all down into bite-sized pieces so you won't get overwhelmed. These sites literally give you aides like templates, examples, e-book downloads and lots of help along the way for every phase of your project from start to finish and from marketing and publicity to preparing your book format for uploading to electronic outlets or physical (printed) distribution ... even getting an agent representative if you decide to do that.
For a start, just Google: book writing help. Then change up the query with keywords of your choosing based on what you are looking for.
There is a huge amount of help for writers online. I wrote several posts/shares with tons of book downloads (most on {{{Blocked by Omni Potens, reason: reports from LEGIT GB STARTER}}}). You can follow my shares on BBHF (type my username in the SEARCH POST field and browse for those that relate to writing) and visit {{{Blocked by Omni Potens, reason: reports from LEGIT GB STARTER}}} and search for the books you need there, too.
Then, your overwhelm will be from the sheer volume of helpful resources you have at your disposal.
Here is another good read on How to Write a Book from Reedsy.com (I found it using the search terms I just provided you):

Reedsy is growing on me!
You may have heard this saying before: There is only one way to eat an elephant --- one bite at a time.
Here is some background on that adage that I just discovered:
Desmond Tutu once wisely said that “there is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time.” What he meant by this is that everything in life that seems daunting, overwhelming, and even impossible can be accomplished gradually by taking on just a little at a time.
Since then, this phrase has been loosely used (and probably attributed to others) but now you know from whence it came.
So, yes, try your hand at science fiction (or any other genre you enjoy).
Here are just a few titles you can download from {{{Blocked by Omni Potens, reason: reports from LEGIT GB STARTER}}} (or PDFDrive.com for that matter):

And don't forget to click the little numbered links (to more download pages) at the end of each list!
Writing a book can be likened to cooking a beloved dish --- unless you focus on the details (ex: measurements and instructions in the recipe) the quality of the end result will not be what you expected. "Seeing the big picture" is useful in some situations but that approach is not advised for every situation.
Do the little things right and (all things considered) you are standing at the door to success.
If you need some guidance, here is something else I found from a site called Introverted Entrepreneur(but I'm sure you don't have to be an introvert to appreciate it)...
