Sun Tsu - The Art of War - James Clavell
In my youth, I read a number of books from James Clavell. His stories wove interesting characters into historical events and times in the Orient.
Shogun, Tai-Pan, Noble House, King Rat, Whirlwind, to name a few. In the first three of that list, Clavell brought up the ideas of Sun Tsu (Sun Wu) and The Art of War.
I was fascinated enough that I began a search for this book and quickly learned that Military leads from around the world had been studying this for ages. It is rumored that Napoleon read this and kept a copy of it with him. Also that Mao's Little Red Book of strategy was this book...
I finally found a copy of this book that was based on the original translation from ancient Chinese into French. It was interesting, but hard to read with all the different commentary in it.
I put it aside and forgot about it for a while, then one day I came across a version that was cleaned up by James Clavell. He had spent years of research in China, Hong Kong, and Japan to write better, more accurate period stories.
When I first read his version, I immediately love it. It was short, clear, and concise. It became one of my favorite books... But unfortunately (well I am fortunate), I travel a lot, as in move from country to country around the world. and in those travels, bringing paper-based books and keeping them in decent shape is a real challenge.
Long story short, I lost my beloved copy of the book. It was not until a number of years later that I finally was able to find an electronic version of the book.
That is what I have for you here. The original ePub version AND the converted to PDF version (I am not a fan of the ePub format).
Now, before you think to yourself, "I don't give a rat's ass about war, why would I read this?". The lessons in this book are just as important for running a business. Business today is highly competitive and you need every tool you can get your hands on if you want to survive and expand.
Read this, learn the lessons, apply them to your life and business and you will gain an advantage.
