Just today, I was asked to post advice on how people here can use private label rights (PLR) products they download from BBHF to sell on their Wordpress sites... without getting into legal "hot water" with the original content creator.

Here are the actual questions:

Q1: Can we use PLR from BBHF to sell on our Wordpress blogs?

Q2: Is there any way that original creator catch you while doing so?

Q3: Can you post a thread on how to use and sell BBHF downloaded PLR properly , so that everyone can be benefited?

Wow! Great questions.

I don't know that I qualify to answer them though, because I don't use PLR. I've never used it; preferring to create my own content. However, everything you need to know is right inside the archived files you download. In my humble opinion, so long as you observe the terms of usage documented in the license of the product, you should be just fine.

Of course, I'm not an attorney (and I don't play one on TV) so, instead of trying to give advice, I will point you to a few places where you can learn from those with the experience you seek.

First, though, I will briefly touch upon a few of the PROs and CONs of using PLR. It's not right for everyone nor for every application.

Secondly, I will point you to sites that might help. I will also throw in a few links to threads I started on PLR ... from information on how to get started using PLR properly (the links to download some informational PDFs is still-working, by the way!) to how to do an ordinary Google search to find tons of PLR downloads.

As for my take on this:

It can get very tricky when you try to re-sell stuff you download illegally. Since you did not purchase it, that can bode worrisome if the product creator files a charge. You are like a sitting duck since their stuff is clearly being sold without their permission on your site. They have your contact info (from the site) and can shut it down, along with your livelihood, as well as bring additional, potentially expensive legal action.

That's the worst-case scenario. Most PLR creators don't have the time, means or resources to hunt you down like this.

If you want my personal opinion (remember: I don't use PLR) then here it is.

BALLSY OPINION: If you're a bad-ass and don't worry about being sued, go ahead but don't say you weren't warned. You'll probably be fine. It's the worry-warts who suffer in this life.

SAFE OPINION: DON'T try to re-sell PLR you download illegally. But don't let it go to waste, either! Use it to familiarize yourself with the content. Get creative and use it as a springboard to creating a similar but better product. Make it so uniquely different in appearance, content and presentation that you can make more money from it as an original creation and it cannot be connected remotely to its original source. So long as you don't grab whole passages from the text verbatim or use the original graphics or make it any way similar to the original PLR, you cannot be penalized.

Of course, this takes time, ability and skill. Not everyone can use a PLR product and come away with their very own unique, completely re-written and attractive product. If you can't, find someone who can and outsource it.

The last thing you want is to have your website(s) shut down because you're selling PLR you did not access legitimately.

Lastly, if you really like the product enough (as an illegal download) and want to profit from reselling it legitimately, you can always buy it!

With all that said... here are the benefits and the potential fallout of using PLR.

PLR PROs:

- These products are Done-for-You (DFY) so product creation is cut-in-half. In the time it would take you to start from scratch writing an article or creating a new product, you can simply "tweak" an existing one and violà, you're done!
- When PLR is of high-quality and has well written content, that makes your job (of customizing and branding it) even easier
- PLR enables you to create content in far less time than if you were to start from nothing
- PLR allows you to put more products on the market since you are starting with a product that already exists

PLR CONs:

- Some platforms (like Kindle) prohibit it due to duplicate content. In fact, it is against Amazon's terms of service to do so and can get your books banned. They require 100% unique content only. If several people use the same PLR then the market would be flooded with all of the same products
- PLR tends to be low-quality, in general. It is created as a starter and should always be upgraded with additional content, repackaged or repurposed and branded with your company's slogan, logo, and catered to your customer base. Most people fail to do that enough to make it their own and because of that, PLR tends to get a bad reputation
- You are up against tremendous competition. Hundreds or thousands of the same product could be on the market at the same time and you need to make yours different to set it apart from the crowd.

Now, here are MY answers to those 3 questions:

Q1: Can we use PLR from BBHF to sell on our Wordpress blogs?

My Answer: Of course you can. I mean, who's to stop you? Once you have the download, you have the full product --- including the license document. But should you use it, is a better question. And I think I answered that question above.

Personally, I think it is better NOT to do that and risk getting into hot water legally. The chances that a PLR creator can or will come after you is small but sh*t happens, right? If they do, it could be an inconvenience at the very least and a major legal hassle for you, at most.

That post focuses on litigation around giving away PLR where the license terms strictly forbid it. That is a prime way to get into trouble; so my answer goes back to following the terms of the license.

Here is an example of what a typical PLR product license looks like:

It tells you precisely what you are allowed (and forbidden) to do. In this case, you can use the name of the original product creator or product title in your sales copy, translate the product into another language, and use the product to build an email list. You cannot, however, use the content on a free (such as YouTube) video site, a free membership site or give it away.

Crystal clear terms. And anything that isn't mentioned or not covered in the terms is fair game.

Q2: Is there any way that original creator catch you while doing so?

My Answer: I don't know if a PLR seller will "come for you" if you have the original file and it contains their license agreement. After all, PLR is created to be re-sold and as long as you abide by the terms of the license, there should be no problem.

The only incident that could possibly cause a problem is if the PLR is used in a way that nullifies the license.

I'm not saying the original creator will never go after unauthorized sellers but it would take enormous efforts to track down every illegal seller and it would be better if you were NOT one of them.

If ever you were made to show that you purchased your PLR rights license and you can't, that does not bode well for you. However, outside of blatantly disregarding the license terms, I can't imagine a reason why anyone would bother you for re-selling a PLR product.

The smart thing to do (if you are ever contacted by the original creator) is to comply with any order to cease marketing the product to avoid serious legal issues. And never admit to having downloaded the file from a black-hat or other source.

So, then, the only way to use PLR products properly, is simply to abide by the terms in the license.

My Answer: I actually posted quite a few PLR-related informational shares on BBHF over the years and will list those links below. As I mentioned earlier, I've never used (nor sold) PLR so I am not the best person to ask about that. When I download PLR stuff, it is either to get a better understanding of a subject I'm interested in or to get a jump-start on a product I'm interested in creating. I go over everything and see where I can improve on it, create a new title or presentation and go from there.

TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE USING PLR:

- LIMIT THEIR USE: As much as possible, create your own products. Use PLR for back-filler or freebies, bonuses, etc. In building your brand, you can't afford to offer the same products your customers can find on 1,000 other sites (or worse, using the search engine!). And never build your image exclusively with PLR.

- PICK HIGH QUALITY PLR: Go for the best-looking, most useful PLR there is. Junky PLR has given a bad name to private label rights, in general. Still, there are some very classy outfits offering these rights. Do a search for PLR providers and do your own due diligence.

- READ AND ABIDE BY THE LICENSE AND READ ANY LEGAL PAGES: In addition to reading, understanding and obeying the product's usage terms or license, you will be using it properly. Additionally, there may be legal conditions found in the terms of service on a PLR website. If anything is in question, use the contact address on the site to reach out to the providers.

- MAKE IT YOUR OWN: Never (ever-ever!) use PLR "as is." That could brand you as a rank-amateur and kill your business. Re-write everything completely, re-brand it with a new title or with your company or website name, logo/graphics and other enhancements.

- BE CAREFUL WITH PLR YOU DID NOT GET LEGITIMATELY: You can always use private label rights products as a idea-starter in creating your own or to expand one of your own creations. At the very least, make sure you have the official license that comes with the PLR download, in the event you may be called to justify selling it.

THE "CLIFF'S NOTES" SUMMARY: Abide by the license terms of any resell rights product you use and be creative to "make it your own." That means giving it a total re-write, a face-lift and any other enhancements to look like a brand new creation. I suggest you never use illegally sourced PLR (or any resell products, for that matter) "as-is" on your site; especially as a main profit center. Instead, use the product to inspire creating something similar but much better. Then not only can you charge much more for it, you completely eliminate any risk.

So be sure to check the license terms of the PLR product you want to sell. Get more familiar with terms like "personal vs. commercial use" or whether or not you can give the content away or must use it as a "bonus" with the sale of another product ... and other other licensing terms. That is the main key to using PLR properly.

So be sure to check the license terms of the PLR product you want to sell. Get more familiar with terms like "personal vs. commercial use" or whether or not you can give the content away or must use it as a "bonus" with the sale of another product ... and other other licensing terms. That is the main key to using PLR properly.

problem here is that this is a blackhat forum. everything stated in the post is white hat.

the link to the warrior forum was a dead end because nobody posted any actual legal issues regarding plr in the past. probably because there are none. why? probably because the plr itself isn't even being sold for that much.

if i were to have written a post, it woulda been the blackhat way. this type of post would be written for plr product creators as that is who it would benefit.

yes, the standard answer is to repurpose plr and rewrite it. but technically, you can go out on the internet, find a really good article and rewrite it and be safe legally. you don't need plr for that. plr is typically used to rebrand and keep the content in tact.

plr comes with a license and it's very similar to physical products where someone creates something, licenses it to a big company to put their name on it.

the plr product creator originally cannot prove if you bought the rights to their content or not. they can only prove if you are using the content that they created differently than what is in their usage rights. if you have rewritten the content however, the usage rights go out the window because you took something that wasn't yours and made it yours just like what all these imb compatable companies did with the imb computers back in the day. they modified a chip and renamed the computer making it their own and could legally sell it without any legal issues.

so the legality issues would normally stem from not following the usage rights and NOT from not buying the actual product. but who is going to sue you over a $50 product because you didn't follow the usage rights? probably nobody. from the link given to the warrior forum, nobody heard of anyone getting sued over not following usage rights. there are some high end plr out there that might be the exception but they are going to be taking someone to court and spending more money in court than what the product is even worth to them. just not worth it normally. but then there is the fact that criminal charges can be made but no government agency is going to pursue it unless it was being distributed on a massive large scale where it's affecting a big industry like the music industry and napster back in the day. no government agency gives two shits about posting duplicate content on the internet from a $27 plr product when you broke the terms of usage. and by government agency, i am talking about in the u.s. where the laws are the strictest.

this is a black hat forum. let's talk black hat. not pussy white hat shit that you can find on any other website when you do a simple google search and the white hat advice you see being given on the warrior forum. the warrior forum isn't even black hat. it's a bunch of wannabe marketers with a stick up their ass who don't want to get banned by giving the actual answers people are searching for.

the warrior forum link provided a simple question and you noticed if you read the responses, it totally avoided the actual question. the actual question we never answered. only shite hat wannabe marketers who think they know shit. probably the same people running around protesting and rioting right now trying to support a cause and what is politically correct. a bunch of know it all pussies if you ask me who think they are better than everyone else.

so in a nutshell, i stand firm in taking the plr from this forum and using it any way you so choose and what pleases you to your hearts content. and also don't be afraid to google a good article on something and rewriting it and posting it. everything anyone can say has already been said. they just say it another way to make it their own. perfectly legal.

so if someone is using plr to rewrite it, plr that leaves a lot of information out, well, your best bet is to just find existing copywrited articles, rewrite them and post it. you don't even need plr for that. you just need to think outside the box and use your head and have some common sense.

yes, my way is the black hat way. this is a black hat forum and any of you runny nosed pussies who disagree with it can do it the white hat way and follow the rules that control you like puppets.

they are good questions but unfortunately you got suckered in to believing the answers. nobody is gonna make the white hat response a sticky on a black hat forum.

p.s.- you might want to change your avatar that reads "sharing is caring". are you the exception? you've been on this forum for 8 years and have hardly shared anything. you have 100 reps in 8 years. you average less than 1 rep a month dude. i am not going to down you because you're a leecher, but don't try to promote sharing is caring except where you are concerned. let's call it what it is. "sharing is caring so everyone should share so i can take take take from you and never give back"

i agree though. layna is a good writer and formats her writings very well. but she leaves information out that is needed on a black hat forum sometimes. but that's not her job either. she has her own style and is perfectly fine and acceptable. but even she said she may not be the perfect person to talk about plr and the use cases for it on a black hat forum.

if you really want this thread to be stickied, pm a mod directly. mods don't even read 1/4 of the content on this forum so to address them in a post is pointless.

if you want to learn about plr, ask the people that are actually using it or have used it in the past. but not just those people....the people actually making money from it. and not just those people, the people who use it the black hat way because let's face it/ white hat is just so boring.....
