I just watched the overview for this and what this guy does is he sets up a Gmail account and puts it on "Vacation Mode" or whatever. Then he shares his gmail address that he set up to the crowds he wants to promote to.

He talks about which audiences he shares his email at but it's the usual suspects like FB, Quora, CL, YT, and so on.

This is an old method but the only way I would use it is if I had no money what so ever to pay for a autoresponder and that I don't know better than to send people who could be on my own list to someone else.

Maybe the course creator goes into that at some point into this course but I just did not finish it. Overall, I don't think it sounds like such a bad idea.

I never tried it but I can see some potential if you send all that free traffic to your own list building efforts than to just waste them on someone else.
