You're very welcome, amanxy and batman1101. Glad I could share the updated files.
Thank you both for posting to the thread.
I am over-joyed to report that I just managed to get back into my (subscription) Mega account and now have access to everything I stored there. I am talking tons of gigs of files --- some of which I purchased but 100x more I either downloaded from the forum or found in web searches.
This took several days of wrecking my brain trying to come up with the password and email combos because I have several alias. I have quite a few paid subscriptions so there are plenty of combinations I use ... and (before you ask) yes, I had everything saved to my Roboform program on the computer and backed up with a Notepad++ file. When the Windows partition died, I lost almost everything.
On the other hand, it is almost like someone tried to hack into my computer because my Roboform program had not updated some of the passwords I changed and the alias email I needed for my Google account was missing entirely.
Once I recovered that email from Google, all was well.
And as soon as I tried a couple of possible passwords again, the Mega account opened like I never left it.
Mega offered to park my account until I found the login credentials but that erases all the files you've saved.
Cancelling the account would help stop the monthly charges, but it also erase all your stored data.
I am just so relieved to have gotten back in. So, first thing tomorrow, I will begin downloading my files to an external hard drive.
To it's credit, Mega warns you to save your recovery key at every turn. And I did just that but when a computer acts up, you can't tell what you will lose.
I write all this as a warning to everybody with a Mega account ... save the damned key!
Save it on a piece of paper in a drawer.
Etch it into your forehead with a pocket knife! (My poor attempt at humor)
Save it to a Rolodex card (like I did) in addition to storing it electronically on the computer or external drives.
If you are ever locked out of your account because you forgot the email/password combination, Mega is set up to use your backup key to help you.
So it's a good thing to save the backup key (along with your log-in credentials) to both your computer as well as someplace non-electronic, like a paper in a filing cabinet.
I learned the hard way that Mega's support is anything but supportive.
Now, I'm in recovery mode. I just purchased software to try and find the damaged/lost Windows partition but I'm too pooped to party now, so that will be a new adventure for another day.
