Hi All

I was just wondering if anyone could share any books about training deaf dogs. Just found out my dog is completely deaf and so now need to start over with communicating with her. She only knows voice commands!

Would also appreciate any recommendations for good books I can buy from Amazon.
Don't want to buy just any, as previous experience has taught not all dog training books are good.
your dog is deaf and only knows voice commands. nice! well you don't need a book. all you need is a good youtube video that can give you the commands for hand signals.

the way you would teach them is the same way you would teach voice commands.

the difference would be the time it takes because normally you would teach a dog voice commands and then to teach the hand commands you combine it with the voice commands. but it will still work the same as voice. just takes longer.

i personally would get a shock collar for the dog. normally i don't believe in them even though they are safe, but if a dog can't hear you he/she may get in to a dangerous situation where you need to call the dog in an instant. without hearing that would be impossible.

i've always taught my dogs voice and hand signals and tricks based on the dogs nature.

i like what you said about how you don't want to buy just any book. you're a good owner. let that and your intuition guide you without a book. you don't need it. just love and patience.....
