But on the other hand, if the FBI wants to do their jobs, they should look at the major search engines that make illegal downloading possible.
They can also investigate the big companies that keep compromising citizen's personal data with not so much as a slap on the wrist! I just read that Equifax is now balking about paying $125 to all the people who filed claims. They now want you to PROVE that you paid for credit monitoring services ... which makes sense ... only, shouldn't they be made to pay for not better securing people's data in the first place? I received 3 separate official letters over as many years informing me that my personal data was leaked but they offered me 6 months of free credit monitoring.
I could go on and on with examples of how the rules get massaged for big corporations but the little guy and gal gets the shaft each and every time.
But again, you're right ... the FBI will use its strong arm and resources to come after some no-name like me sharing files that another entity makes available before they prosecute a billion-dollar conglomerate whose breaches impact millions of people.
