I'm uncertain what else Jdownloader needs to be 'fully loaded'...but when I tried to get it installed before it barfed on me a couple of times and I finally gave up trying, but now...
I've found a way to get it that worked very well and easily for me, so maybe it'll help other folks as well.

This page:
Code:
http://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2

Has a mega DL link for the JAR file, which is quite small, here:
Code:
https://mega.nz/#!6FtSTAaa!iCcVpHl4hePgpj2q7EdcqGofDQKAt7rohGybzRCogv0

After getting that, I opened it directly as my system does have Java, and it updated itself and finished opening perfectly.

HTH !!
Also, just found and tested a terrific portable for JDL from here:
Code:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/thumbapps/files/Internet/jDownloader/

More, different portables too, starting here:
Code:

Not meaning to hijack this good older thread - but this is a real game changer for me, I gotta say...!
JDownloader does pretty much EVERYTHING - this is what I am finding.

In the past, I really got good uses out of IDM - but there was stuff it just didn't give any attention to at all;
Eagleget is pretty good too, but also had its exceptions;
Mipony was mostly just a stinker.

But this one is terrific now that I finally got it to open and work for me !!!
Jdown is good. For mega download (only for mega) megabasterd is also very usefull for downloading. It will download whole as it is + it uses proxyes for download. (you also need java for this one)

Thanks for that tip Znj1377 !!!

Sadly it requires a newer version of Java than what I use so it won't work for me.
You can try older versions. But I cannot say when they switched java https://github.com/tonikelope/megabaster...fter=v5.33
Thanks for the share (I use jdownloader more than any other program besides chrome and that's saying a lot!). Would LOVE to get premium sources for uploaded/[Reported by Members as premium hosting that SUCK! Use MEDIAFIRE or MEGA.NZ :) !!!]/nitroflare/turbobit/prefiles as those are the file hosters that EVERYONE uploads to, but 9 times out of 10...you need a premium account for. I see there are some premium accounts included, but they are rather obscure. Either way...thanks again.
@ilikeseggs: Grab yourself a cheap one-month subscription to Deepbrid. You will be able to download from all of the listed premium file hosts (more than 80 of the most popular ones).

Unless the link is dead on the server, you will get the download.

I've touted the benefits of Deepbrid all over the forum. The only problem I have had to date (and I hope it is a glitch) is that I'm being asked to upgrade to PREMIUM if I download too much too soon. I'm being asked to wait for 10:38 before downloading multi-part files.

I have a customer support ticket in but haven't heard back for days.

I purchased the largest plan they offer --- it's called Deepbrid 365 --- a year of Deepbrid Premium Service for only $38.52 USD. If your country's currency is anything other than the dollar, do a Google search to convert this amount to your monetary unit.

You will find it very affordable for the ease of use, download efficiency and dead-simple user interface. All you do is log in (you may be asked to complete a CAPTCHA) and copy/paste download links from [Reported by Members as premium hosting that SUCK! Use MEDIAFIRE or MEGA.NZ :) !!!], Nitroflare, [Reported by Members as premium hosting that SUCK! Use MEDIAFIRE or MEGA.NZ :) !!!], and over 80 more into a box (up to 10 links at a time in the PREMIUM plan). Then hit the button to convert the files. In seconds, you will see a blue text download link if the files are available --- or an ugly red swatch saying either the file host is not supported or the file is unavailable. It's that easy!

The list of file hosts supported is shown along the right side of the user interface, in colorful icons. Just hover your mouse over each icon and the name will show.

What I noticed is that Deepbrid checks your browser before it opens to your account and it seems you will need to have your account open to download from the converted files. I tried to save some converted files for use another day and forgot to log-in to my DB account --- the links didn't work.

So be sure you are logged in on your computer before you attempt to use the links --- whether you're downloading in a browser, using IDM or even JDownloader2.

Another thing: You can use DB with JDownloader2 by going into the Settings tab, using the Add Premium Account link, searching the drop-down list for all the premium file hosts and selecting Deepbrid. All that's left is to type in your DB account username and password ... wait for JD2 to check for it and you're set.

You don't need to pay for a year in advance when it's very affordable to get a one-month at a time plan. You can then let the account expire if you no longer want it ... but imagine being able to grab downloads right-and-left with reckless abandon! That's what I'm doing now that premium file links no longer stand in my way.

So far as I know, at least 2 people on the forum have confirmed with me that they are now happy DB customers. I'm happy for them!

So grab yourself a one-month DB account. Then all you'll need is a lot more time at your computer screen for downloading ... and a much, much bigger hard drive.

I hope this helps.

I'm a happy Deepbrid customer as well. Thank you so much for the tip Layna. And the integration with JDownloader is killer.
