@Theo1: Are you proposing because of the Stuart Goldsmith share or because I love football? Hahahahahhhhaaaaa! By the way... I can cook, too. I've got a fall-off-the-bone-tender chicken roasting in the slow-cooker, broccoli steaming on the stove top with pineapple-accented candied yams in the oven for dessert.

Now, there's a reason to propose to a girl, right!?

Thanks for the post, friend. I just love it here! You guys are the greatest!

Now, if you'll pardon me I've got to go check on my pots!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Whoa! Now it turns out you’re a phenomenal cook on top of everything else? You have now created what they call in the legal field an “Airtight Case!”

Just PLEASE don’t tell us that you also like a good hearty German Stout and like to arm-wrestle, or I’ll have to fly out to your country immediately!

(Plus you spelled broccoli correctly so that’s definitely a bonus point!)
Layna - a woman of many talents. Hats off to you.

Great share btw - as usual. Repped you

The first report says that there are 19 reports so only report 3 is missing, there is no 20. Great share Layna!
@Ice Glass: Yes, I don't know why I assumed there was a number 20 ... so, you're correct. Only Report #3 is missing. Sorry about that!

@Theo1 and jubileewizzy: You guys have me in stitches over here! I forgot how good it feels to be fussed over (hahhahaaa!!!). Anyway, I have had to upgrade my cooking skills since my dearly beloved hubby passed in 2015 ... he was a wonderful cook and learned from his mother and aunts. Although we're from different states, he could really do southern inspired cooking very well. And, @Theo1: I do love a good full-bodied beer (I don't know if that qualifies as a German stout) with my football games but no arm wrestling. So, see? There are a few things I can't (or maybe just won't) do.

@StillStanding: Tonight's the night! Monday night Match-Up ... Kansas City Chiefs at the Los Angeles Rams. Good luck, buddy. But ... not. If your Rams win, that means my Saints are knocked out of 1st place in the power rankings. The way the Saints man-handled the SB champion Eagles yesterday gives them a right to occupy that spot. But somebody's gonna be 9-and-2 after tonight. So, who will it be in the top-two spots? Rams + Saints or Saints + Chiefs?

DUHNT-DUHNT-DUHNT-DUNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTT!

DUHNT-DUH-DUH-DUH-DUHNT!!! Happydance

WHAT A GAME!!!!!

Highest scoring game in MNF history and 3rd best in NFL history. I actually thought I was watching an Arena football game.:)

I don't have a whole lot of confidence though that the Rams will do much in the playoffs. They can score off anyone but their defense can't stop anybody. They've allowed 30 points or more in six games, yet their 5-1 in those games, that can't last much longer.

To be honest, your Saints still should be #1 in the power rankings, even though the Rams have a better record only because they've played one more game.
@StillStanding: You're right! Last night's game was like watching an arena football game (don't you hate those!???) or a hyper-active pinball machine gone haywire!

What a game is right!

First of all, congratulations to your team for a very impressive win. Like I said, I was rooting for the KC Chiefs ONLY because a Rams win knocks MY team out of first place. But hey ... all 3 are darn-good teams and deserve to be where they are.

I love NFL football and can't wait for Thursday's game against our rival Atlanta Falcons. They aren't doing so well this season but they still play a highly competitive game against their "hated" Saints. So this is going to be "the game to watch" on Thanksgiving night.

Don't worry about the Rams' defense. The Saints's defense isn't the best ... they're slowly coming into their own but they are not the defense they were at the close of the 2017 season.

I just left the Atlanta Falcons fans' blog (The Falcoholic) and read lots of comments about concern over teams like the Rams, Chiefs and Saints now putting up 40-50 or more points, seemingly at will, against "the rest" of the teams. How it isn't fair and that the million-dollar Fantasy Football League industry and newly instituted NFL rules that stifle how defensive players can tackle the quarterback, are solely responsible.

They are worried that this hyper-scoring will become the norm going forward and that teams that "can't" keep pace will fall behind. Some of them feel the NFL is stirring the pot, so to speak, because these kinds of games are a lot more fun to watch and can only serve to increase the NFL's profit share. I'm not sure how much of this is true but that's the conversation I'm hearing.

But as for defense, there is an article in Street and Smith's Football magazine entitled: Defense Wins? Postseason Defensive Stats Suggest Otherwise.

This is just my way of seeing it, but when you've got a prolific offense that can score by running or passing; a smart coaching staff that makes the necessary adjustments throughout the game and a head coach that knows how to manage the game via the clock and maybe employ a never-before-seen formation or two (to make the opposing defense look like helpless little boys) then all your team's defense needs to be is "good enough."

In a very important game (division championship or Super Bowl) it always helps to have a trick play or something unexpected to throw your opponent off (a-la "The Onside Kick" after halftime that my Saints used against the Indianapolis Colts in their SB XLIV win back in 2010. Happydance

In his role as analyst on the NFL Channel, former Colt Reggie Wayne has said that he still remembers that Tracy Porter interception with only 3:24 left on the clock in the 4th quarter.

(I do, too, Reggie.)

So, it doesn't hurt to exert a physical presence on the field. But short of an interception or a sack (which is ideal), if your guys on defense can hurry the QB enough to discombobulate his pocket presence, then that could be enough to get themselves (and the opposing offense) off the field.

Last night's game was an anomaly because BOTH teams were so good and almost mirror-images of each other. That is why these three teams are at the top (pretty much an arm's length from the rest of the league with the next-best teams coming in with 7 wins).

So, again, a great game was enjoyed by all (except maybe not-so-much for KC fans). But all 3 teams are playing lights-out right now.

I know ... "It ain't over until the Fat Lady sings..." ... but:

It's going to be a challenge for teams not named Rams, Saints or Chiefs (or to play this new incarnation of football ... the pinball follies.

Sorry about taking up all this premium forum real estate ... just to get my football freak on!
